Understanding map icons?

My main question is after I went into a camp and did my thing the icon on the map turned red. I went to another camp this one smaller and did the same thing but the icon is still white on the map. The icon is an Eye. What am I not understanding here? Thanks for your time and concern

Red, Purple and Orange? and I think Green denote main camp for that faction. The others are outlier camps or outposts. Think there is another color but am blanking.

Factions are:

Dafari?
Hyena's Dogs or something.
Black Hand Pirates?
Something Nordic
Whomever the Ancient empire was.

Yeah,.....I dont't know. Seriously I don't care what they call themselves. Ask me who has the Iron, who drops steel and where the best place to get fur is.

Each faction has a symbol and colour.
The main camp is colored, the rest are white

For example, the Black hand faction, has a hand as a symbol and their main base is colored black. The small camps they own are just white hands.

The main camp is more likely to have tier 4 (named) thralls
