Reviving a dead thrall - Is there an easy way?
I recently bought the game and still learning things.
So, several days ago i found out that if a thrall dies it dies, kinda sad if you ask me. But yesterday something else happened, i was exploring Lemurian city on the coast and found a boat that leads to Sunken City, if i remember correctly. My follower went there with me but i got too distracted by diving and looking for chests and what not and he wasn't following me in the water. I didn't pay much attention to that as i expected him to teleport to me once my character is back on the dry land. A bit later i ran out of food and couldn't find or cook anything so decided to get back on the main map but i couldn't find my follower, went out without him, found some birds, cooked some meat. At that time i thought that he probably lost me for too long and went back to base where i place to guard my front door but then several minutes later when i was about to go back on my own i get notification that my follower died. How? Why? He wasn't even near me to get in trouble and die. Went to check event log to see why he died and there it wasn't even mentioned. He was my favorite and almost hit level 20 and had the best stuff i can give him at the moment plus carried some loot i got along the way, everything got lost as i had no idea where to look for the corpse.

So, here's a couple of questions:
- How often followers just get lost and die for unknown reasons?
- Is there a way to quickly revive them or make them respawn like players with an admin command or mod or whatever if that happens in a single player game?

1- Unknown reasons is a bug, dev team is working on it.

2-Yes, you can use the admin panel to respawn the Follower. Set the Follower to follow you, than type in the CMD (Insert or ~ to access)

LevelFollowerUpTo (insert level here)

Example --->

LevelFollowerUpTo 20

Keep in mind that the stats will be random. So they won't have exactly the same stats as before. Up to you on how you want to deal with that. You can also, obviously, respawn the gear they lost too.

What you say is basically getting yourself a new follower, not getting the old one back. Does that mean nothing really has been done in that field? Kinda hard to believe i'm the only guy who figured out how to raise your follower from the dead with their stats and perks and maybe, if i dig a bit deeper, with their equipment too.

Probably a way to do it by digging through the actual database file. I just offered the quickest solution and answered your question to what I know. Guess you have it handled though.

Yep, exactly! The game creates a bunch of backup files so if the tragedy happened recently you can quit and swap your current save game with an earlier back up and lose only about 5-10 minutes of progress. However, i lost a lot of time while hoping my follower was still alive so i had to pull him out of the backup file and put him back in my current game which included a bit of digging and figuring out which data was his and which wasn't.

Appreciate your answer though, so far you are the only person who replied at all.

Realize this is king of an old thread, but if you have access to the server you can FTP into the server and restore a game.db backup file that is date stamped prior to the time the thrall died. Kind of drastic though since everything else on the entire server that was happened since that time will cease to exist, including builds, captures, etc.

Yeah, i guess it's a pain in the rear if you play on a dedicated server.

Thankfully, i was playing solo and found that the game makes a ton of backups, like your current play session is backed up every 5 minutes and there's a few backups from previous play sessions too. So for solo game you just immediately quit, go to save folder, delete your current game.db and then rename your nearest backup to game.db which makes the whole world go for up to 5 minutes back and respawns every hostile creature in the world.

If dedicated servers create just the same amount of backups and you only play with your friends and family then it shouldn't be much of a problem either.

Back when i created this thread i totally missed the window because i spent 2 hours searching for a way with my game still running in background so i lost my nearest backups and only had one from the day before. Found a free tool that opens db files but it was so lame it wouldn't let copy and paste blocks of data so i had to export everything in SQL file then manually dig for thrall's ID and everything related to that ID then separate it in the new SQL file and inject it in my latest game.db file. That worked and i brought my guy back to life with his perks, stats and everything, sure, he lost a few levels he got that day but it was him and not a replacement copy.

I found that you can also simply go in
D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved
and jump back in time per block of 5 minutes in your save by removing the file "game" and as many game_backup_x as you want depending on the time at wich you want to go back to.
Then change the name of the desired file to "game" and you are ready to go

I did not know about this and it worked perfectly. Thank you!

In case you play on Isle of Siptah map, then your current game save file is called dlc_siptah.db and backup files are called dlc_siptah_backup_#.db and those files are all in the same folder as game.db which is for Exiled Lands.

P.S.: just look how my thread is still alive three years later! Take care of your thralls folks and they will take care of you!

It saved my day, died in Kurak's Lair and lost basically everything valuable I had + my 2 strongest followers cause I didnt know bout the 30 min timer, it sucked, was about to quit a 500h survival

I lose Thralls incessantly to game bugs. It's really difficult to manage them, and I can only imagine what it must be like trying to do it on a controller...

...turns out, my thrall doesn't spawn with the game. Have they been disconnected as followers from the game file somehow? Suppose I best run back to camp and see if he's there. All these bugs, all these lost efforts.

For unknown reasons, not much. For any reason: a lot.

If the event log doesn't say what they died to, they probably got stuck and bugged out somehow. This happens to me extremely rarely, and mostly in dungeons. Thralls do take damage from environment, although the pathfinding should be written in a way that makes them avoid it. If you died to lava for example, its possible that your thrall followed you into the lava and died to it just as well.

- If your character dies while you had a thrall on follow, the thrall will stop following you and just stand still where they were at the time. Eventually (like 15 mins? not sure) they will teleport back to the place you last ordered them to guard. Usually your base that is. So its important to "place and guard" a thrall to a safe place. Also try to avoid placing them to guard in the middle of nowhere. Instead use the "stop following" command if you need it.

- You can go to your followers tab and click the eye icon to have the thrall show up on your map as an icon, if you are unsure where they are. All live thralls should be on the list. If you had a thrall that doesn't show up on it, its dead.

If you don't mind gruesomely slitting throats of bound and naked people, you could learn sorcery and specifically upgrade your Tome of Kurak until you know how to build
"circle of power".

This sorcery crafting station has a spell called "corpse recall". If you happen to die, in dungeon or anywhere, you can go to the circle and perform the corpse recall. This will teleport your corpse and everything its carrying to the circle, and you can pick up all the stuff you would've otherwise lost from your corpse. This works even if you die in a dungeon. (obviously build it near your bed)

Kurak is basically a raid boss. There are people who can solo it, but I wouldn't recommend it.
