We did a test run and not sure what to think about stone dropping 8 different things in it
Seemed like a lot of bloat in trade for lots of immersion/magic and customization
What I like in AoC is the fact that they make all these resources actually useful. Gathering nodes that you would rarely harvest on vanilla are useful in AoC e.g. silver nodes, all types of plants and I mean really mean all, crystals, star metal. The mod also revamps biomes which are not that popular on vanilla e.g. from PvE perspective I don't see a point in playing in the jungle on vanilla but the jungle is my favourite biome to build on in AoC. I love the different building styles as well.
The mod adds quite some content which makes people willing to work together to trade items between the factions, to help each other in boss fights, purges and so on, something we are lacking on vanilla.
It extends the end game beyond lvl 60, you have all the vanilla content + something extra. It is also a bit more dangerous than the vanilla game, even bunnies can be deadly and areas like mounds and UC can be quite scary :)
However, there are aspects I dislike:
- Once you can get faction thralls, there would be no reason whatsoever for you to farm vanilla crafters thralls. They are just completely obsolete, which is sad.
- I still prefer vanilla fighters for their stats but I tend to farm faction combat thralls for their looks.
- Purges can be devastating if the server is set to trigger them often and you don't have people to help. You would say that you can get thralls but if you happen to have a scourge animal, it can completely wipe your thrall army upon its death.
Overall, I find myself switching between vanilla and AoC, depending on what I feel like playing. Once you install AoC on your server though, it won't be as easy to remove it without losses, so make sure you have a backup before you install it in case you want to go back to your original game.
haha and overall looks cool, were making a new save file now and gonna give it a go, is a scourge animals a possible spawn during a purge? we have them off for now and let our admin spawn in stuff like that at their discretion when we play
