Is there a reason why PVE players can loot each other's chests and workbenches?
Just logged on today to find that someone has stolen all of my hide and 2 sets of armor from my workbench and lots of other mats from a chest I had. Both were by windows in my base. Is there a reason that people can loot your stuff now on Official PVE servers? It definitely wasn't like that when this game first hit Early Access.

The concept of PvE has been around for quite a while, we don't need to reinvent the wheel.. if you prefer your gameplay being affected by other players, simply play PvP, you have the option. The only reason people would even debate this is if you actually ARE the ones who want to steal other people's items without them being able to punish you.

Everything NEEDS to be locked.. sure a permission system in the long run would be nice, so we can put out 'public' chests for wanderers with food / armor / stuff that WE choose to give.
Not everyone prefers to put their crafting stations inside.. (in fact it's outright silly on a pve server) and if you're saying that you remove all materials and thralls from the crafting station and put it in a chest before you leave the area, you're absolutely lying...

There we go one more time for good measure then: Yes, EVERY container needs to be locked.. crafting stations.. campfires, doesn't matter... (with that being said a decay system affecting them would be nice to get rid of the abandoned ones.)

Stealing is not a PvE feature it never was.. never will be.. and if you intend on making it one.. at least rename the concept so you don't fool your players who are supporting you...
The PvE version of stealing would be if carefully scripted NPCs labeled 'Thief' would be the ones attempting to break into your base, anything else involving players is simply unacceptable.

So by all means, just turn off the server setting already so it goes back to the way it was while you're 'thinking about what to do'... you can do your thinking afterwards and when you guys have a legit solution that would be more 'perfect' let us know, but in the meantime turn the setting back for PvE servers as with every passing moment more and more useless boxes are being built around everything... (don't believe me? check the object count on your pve servers)

Kinda exhausted the subject, so I'll stop now.. I simply cannot think of any more ways to try and explain something that shouldn't have to be explained and should be obvious instead :P

Now that you say it.... I played like 100h on release, on pve servers, and I don't recall this to happen. So yeah, looks like they had it right from the start, then changed it to what we have now.

Of course legit stealing on a pve server should come much much after most of bugs and exploits have been fixed, and also after people can correctly secure their stuff.

Since vaults and large chests are supposed to be locked but they are also bugged (not being locked as intended) I think we can wait till talking about legit stealing on pve.

Let's first talk about how you keep your items secure as you can in any other game of same or other genre....

What Funcom fail to understand is that players are going to continue to destroy your entire base, grief you and such because players in general are ♥♥♥♥♥. Especially on PVP servers because that is literally all they are there for.

This was a pointless change and will only help griefers and looters more. (I took your stuff now I'm going to rub it in by destroying all you built.. etc).

Yeah well but right now it's even worse in PvE than in PvP, since in PvP I can try to kill anybody that I see climbing / glitching into my base, while in PvE they can do that in front of me XDD

Also, like in Ark and other survivals, in PvE servers you find many griefers, since in early access games you can abuse so many bugs and glitches, and since it is PvE, they are protected while doing all those exploits xD

It has been confirmed on twitter they are adding lock and unlock system in a patch.

This is purely unacceptable...

So what to build NOW? that people can simply jump at a wall and pass through?


Like seriously DO SOMETHING ALREADY... devs? community managers?.. this is just outrageous... re-lock the containers until you develop your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ locking system.... I literally have to stand guard in my base and the most I can do is take screenshots of people coming through the wall and looting my stuff... so far 6 top tier slaves missing.. and a bunch of resources...

Just either had random stuff disappear from large chest, or have been raided through closed door, or from looking through 4th floor windows. No building damage found

It´s not the big problem chest and banches, ... open for every one.
the problem are bugs (window / wallglitch...) and player they use them to get your stuff.
I like sharing stuff i dont need anymore - and its nice to use cooking. crafting and fish traps from other players. Maby we can get a switch to open or close it for other players-

Read the whole discussion, don't want to repeat myself :P and try to analyze the term 'PvE' and explain why do you think pvp-stealing fits into that concept...

I hv been so addicted to Conan Exiles,,my most fav game,,,love building,,but got boring eventually on my own server,,so I went to Online PVE servers,,,was loving it so much UNTIL - my
carpenter and blacksmith thralls stollen and much of my loot stolen by another player,,,I had a good door , reinforced fences,,yet all this got taken!! I am totally disillusioned now,,,not sure what to do. Thx Xevyr for your above inputs,,I totally agree,,I am just looking for answers right now :0(

Look at the date from the post above yours, it's more than 1½ years old.
It isn't possible to steal from each other on official pve servers, you can't even loot dead players, perhaps check the server log to see what happened :)

i was on official Calamitous pve server,,,the log showed another player came when i was getting stones and stole my stuff
