It allows for build diversity. Like if you want to be a quicker, roguelike character. Only get some endurance, equip light armor. then put all ur points into acc grit str vit.
If you wanna be tankier, do endurance vit str. Use heavy armor.
This game is not designed well enough or thought through enough to create a tank class. - tanking is a joke in Conan
Tanking in Conan LMAO.
If not,
how about posting the specs right here.
Specialised jousting armour produced in the late 15th to 16th century was heavier, as it was not intended for free combat, it did not need to permit free movement, the only limiting factor being the maximum weight that could be carried by a warhorse of the period.
BUT.. with that being said real people don't carry half a mountain in their bags... or an entire building broken up into elements like walls and foundations... and definitely do not fight spiders as huge as cows... in fact they can even swat the bigger ones with a proper newspaper (though those get nasty)...
So let's not try to follow real life... people play games to get away from just that! :P
All in all this decision is stupid they jumped from regular heavy armor to hardened steel and multiplied the weight by 10 :)) (star metal weighs about half as much as hardened steel which is still way too much imo.. and silent legion weighs even slightly more than hardened steel)
Given that armor seems to be pretty useless in the game currently... the extra 50-ish armor points you get from wearing star metal over the improved fur armor does little to nothing in reducing damage, while the encumbrance hit is just outright silly... so I pretty much stashed mine in a box awaiting further patches.. :P
If that is indeed their plan - and I'm afraid it is, judging by the silent legion armor description ingame.. (it pretty much hints that you're supposed to be moving like the boss who wears it in the black keep.. over encumbered at the speed of a crawl... ) - they really need to rethink is.. since I'd rather go naked than haul that thing around regardless of the situation.. Not to mention that you're supposed to be exploring and never preparing for a single fight... (that's too pvp oriented again...) and the weather system makes it so that you now have to have way more types of armor in your inventory than before.. to switch once you start getting that heatstroke...
So no.. we don't want armor that weighs a ton.. got them all... stashed them all away... wearing the reindeer stuff till they change it... and by 'change it' I don't mean reduce it to half or something... I mean abandon the silly idea all-together and give it a normal weight like heavy armor currently has... nobody wants this seeing as it's pretty hard to manage your inventory even without these...
I put it on when I'm killing, I take it off when I'm chopping.
Or.. respec your character... since you never apparently focused on "leg day" i.e. can't carry anything.
Actually a tank would useful to a party of people in this game and would work well- problem is the game is not thought out enough to incorporate a tank or any form of party dynamics properly.
Which is a pity since they seem to want to jam people together to play in so many ways. Yet have not in the last 8 momths come up with a functional way to have people party up.
Waste of good game play that is due to a lack of a grouping feature.- short sighted development. You get clans but can't group with yu clan members to share exp.
Never dis a tank I say.
The "tough" heavy metal armor.. doesnt protect you from the cold, isnt light weight to carry or wear.. it does its job.. its tough..
Side note.. in real life.. you dont "click and drag" and poof its on... heavy armor is a pain to get into, and in most cases, takes a 2nd person to help strap you into it..
So hardened steel armor should get a dramatic increase in armor points or grant a player second layer of HP which will be connected to armor's durability.
Like I'd expect to be able to run (or slowly crawl) into the New Asgarth city and yell at them 'Bring it'... with those weight requirements :D
Instead you get what?... maybe if you're lucky you take 1-2 extra hits before dying compared to being full on naked :))))
