How are people naming their pets and thralls?
Hi

I've been running across peoples pets and thralls that have names. Not just the standard title.
Things like Bob or Spot and then underneath that that it say Archer etc.

How are they doing that, I looked through the interface and I don't see any options like that.

Been playing Warhammer so all of my Rhinos have been a variation of Whaaaaargh! If you open up the pet's inventory at the very top it has the "name" of the pet. And there is a tiny edit button on the right side of the name.

Edit: going in to check that, maybe you just need to type over the name. Yes, use the edit button then you can change the name.

Thanks I'll check that out.

I haven't played a lot for a while, I just realized that there are regular NPCs with names now.

I found one named Teresa, who was a fighter, I tried to capture her, but after beating on her for 5 minutes my club wore out and I didn't have the stuff to repair it.

I don't know what level she is but I know where to find her so I'll go back and try again when I get the chance. Just ran into one of the new tougher creatures with the skull icon on their name too.

I guess some things have changed.

lol. Yes, lots of things have changed; watch out for corrupted creatures! I started a new character and did not realize I would be running into them so fast.

There is some chance Teresa may not spawn every time. In my first camp by the river there was a named npc very close to me, which I avoided like the plague, but it was not always the same one.

Best name for a rhino ever.

Now paint it red.

Hi

I got all my Turtles named, from Alice, to Natti and Bumppo, and Hercules have about 20 of them right now.

They are great for carrying things and the red ones are good for protection.

I wandered around and found multiple named fighter NPCs wandering here and there.

So that's how people are getting thralls with names.

I'll start working on that, I assume that the new health bar thing shows how far they have to go to become unconscious?

I ran into a corrupted Crock and almost died before I realized he wasn't dying in 4 hits like all the others. Ran for it and got away.

I've logged in every day for a few minutes and my main base is still intact but everything else is gone.

I maintain my main base on the river in the south and just build outposts in whatever area I'm working, it's always the ones further north that get purged.

There is a thin blue bar on top of the health bar that shows how close you are to knocking the NPC unconscious. And lucky you, you ran faster than I did!

I made sure to knock down any other structures I had on the map so that I could control the purge as best I could. Seemed to work pretty well, at least for the first purge. Is definitely less convenient than my usual technique of mini bases everywhere.

@Lerch Addams: Sadly the closest I can get to red is the black rhino.

Hi

I captured my first named fighter thrall. I can't remember exactly what his name is but it's something the Murderer.

He's on the wheel now, I see that they appear in the same area but not the same NPC.

It took forever to do him in. I had to repair my club half way through.

I discovered that he won't climb up on even a one block high platform so It's easy to get up and heal and repair.

When I get in I'm going to go and try another one.

What I've done to avoid the purge is to build a structure by the pirate ship. But I don't put a lot of effort into it that's the one that always disappears and my main base on the river has never gotten hit.

Not 100% related, but if you are trying to capture named NPC’s get a fighter and equip them with just a truncheon and decent armor. They knock out other thralls very well and as a bonus there is no durability on the truncheon

Our clan is named the Thot Patrol. All our animals are named after (mostly Twitch) thots.
Yes, we're both in our thirties and very very mature, i swear.

My favourite tiger is called Belled Delphine. It's the eighth incarnation... she keeps getting killed.

Hi

Thanks for the hints guys, I'll tryout the Thrall with a club thing.
I spent so long trying to knock out one of them it got dark, and I lost him.

Another one I almost had done and a Turtle came along and killed him.

The thing I think is strange is that they are really hard to knock out but can be killed in a couple of hits.

Hi again

I tied out the Fighter Thrall with a club thing and it appears that it's going to work.
The first time he killed the npc with the club but when I went after a named fighter it appeared to work well, but when I knocked the thrall unconscious it disappeared?

Son now I will have to wait for it to re-spawn and try again.

well that is unfortunate, losing the thrall body. But yes, looks like you have proof of concept!
Once I got a thrall enslavement buddy (Fighter II) equipped with only a shield and truncheon it was pretty easy stairstepping up to a named fighter thrall (Captain). The level II fighter could take down several NPCs and getting a level III was not a challenge. Then the III just rolled the Captain and now the Captain, with over 7k hp, just knocks out everybody and I get to pick through the bodies for the keeper. If it gets too crowded in a knockout fight and I'm at risk to be killed I just climb up something and the NPCs can't get me unless there's an archer. Meanwhile my henchwoman, the Captain, beats the tar out of the riled up NPCs. I think the highest count of bodies per episode is about a dozen - and the Captain's hp isn't even down 20%. I have become concerned a couple of times that her blue consciousness indicator has dropped into the bottom half but figured out it was friendly fire - me accidentally hitting her with my truncheon in the street brawl.
What I didn't realize as a noob was there can be more than one Captain. I've spotted about 5 of them in Sepemaru and 2 of them work for me now :-)
