Gossamer not dropping from spiders

I need to farm gossamer but it's not dropping from the spiders no matter what tool I use. Every video I've seen has it dropping nearly from every spider. I'm farming the spiders just northeast of the Yog Shaman near what I believe is called the Skittering Caverns or some such. I'm playing single player. I've killed dozens of spiders but not one single gossamer has dropped. I've mostly been farming the spiders outside and haven't gone very far into the cave yet. Do all spiders types even drop gossamer?

Not sure, but I know those used to. However even if they aren't doing so anymore you can still gather Gossamer by picking up the eggsacs laying around inside the cavern.

Every video on the subject I've seen shows spiders dropping gossamer. Is this something they've changed in the last couple of months?

they drop chitin mostly and sometimes ichor now

what you are looking to pick up for gossamer is really small and usually near the cave wall, surrounded by web

no tool is required to pick it up

You used to be able to use a pick on the little web/egg clusters to get more than simple picking, but they removed that. Sickle works just fine though.

I just this morning went to the Skittering Cavern (Cave?), killed all the spiders there, harvested their feeble corpses for Ichor and Chitin and then looted a bunch of the web nodes on the floor for gossamer.

Thanks for your answers. I've been thinking my game was bugged because I saw all these videos on youtube of folks getting the gossamer off of spiders. After I read your answers I made another trip there and went into the cave and was able to farm up about 200 gossamer.

I was a little wary about going in with so many spiders there. I doubt I would have survived if I didn't have a pet with me. There were a LOT of spiders down there. I was also concerned there might be some kind of elite spider down there or worse, a boss. I'm not sure how mobs are ranked in the game but I assume the bigger mobs with the glowing eyes are some kind of elite mob. As it was I could handle up to three of the spiders alone, but they were coming at me in pretty large groups.

There is at least one spider cave with an actual spider boss, but it is further north, near the middle of the desert, and below a support for the collapsed elevated highway. Be careful if you are thinking of fighting it though, the thing hits like a tank, is very fast, and has a STRONG poison...Also... from what I remember you drop into its arena from above so retreating is NOT going to be an easy option...

You can use the sickle on spiders not all spiders will give gosamer and also you can use it on gosamer on the ground

This: It's just a matter of using the correct tool to increase the chances of getting what you want...

Skinning knife if you're looking for Chitan...
Sickle if you're looking for gossimer. (Aparently the sickle also increases the yealed when used to harvest it from the ground now too...)

There are two entrances to this actually... (There should be another entrance further north that lets you into the same chamber without the drop.)

Yup...sickle on dead spiders can yield it.

IMO, the best place is south of the Sinkhole. Pass through the Darfari camp and there's gossamer nodes all over the ground. Just stay away from the boss spider...when you see it, go west and look for the webs.
