Question about insulated wood home in desert
I'm located near South Aqueduct area. Would I die from heat exhaustion if I build my home using insulated wood? If so could I build using mix of tier 2 materials and get away with it? What if I used mostly insulated wood and only few stones. Also I'm assuming you can't build insulated wood walls on stone foundation? Looking for ways to reduce resin costs. Thanks for tips in advance!

By the way I like the way insulated wood looks, reason why I want to use it :) Also I prefer to stay where I am for those thinking I could just move north and avoid the issue entirely

You can mix and match materials.. so there is nothing stopping you from placing inselated wood on a stone foundation, or stone on a wood foundation...

That doesn't really answer his question about the heat levels, though. The reality is, any armor that will protect you from heat, will allow you to build in the desert. The current balance is now that armor>building material. I could build a drafty butt castle on a glacier and as long as I had cold protection on my armor, I'm fine.

I've built houses on the starter river using insulated wood and the conflict was never enough to cancel the armor out. I never got so hot it was an issue.
I'm pretty sure the insulation works by "normalizing" the temperature so that if you're in cold environments it goes up towards the middle and if you're int hot environments it goes down towards the middle. Somebody can correct me though because I'm not 100% sure myself since I tend to avoid temperature problems by just having the appropriate armor on me.

When temperature specific building materials were introduced to the game building with insulated wood or black ice in desert areas did make you hot - even to the point of getting heatstroke. Same thing with opposite effect if you build with sandstone or other "cooling" materials in colder biomes - you would get cold.
According to Joel Bylos in one of the dev streams this was not intended and later got changed in one of the patches to work so, that using "heating" materials in your building would normalize your in house temperatures in cold areas but NOT cause the inside temperatures rise above the environment temperature in warmer areas. Same correction was made to "cooling" materials, so that those cool your house down in hot areas but NOT cause you to freeze in cold.
But then again if you build with sandstone in snowy and freezing areas you can't walk naked indoors without getting frostbite because that building material does not warm your house over the environment temperatures.

Wow I never noticed that building materials have temperature specific (cooling/heating) effects - what a brilliant idea! I have 3 bases so far, one just south of noob river near the Shattered Bridge (Reinforced Stone Wall) and two up north in the Vanir and Cimmerian territories (both built with the Pictish building stuff) and never noticed this.

Building with isolated wood is only necessary in snowy North and building with desert type is only needed in vulcano...

Very clear, thank you!
