Workshop mod not updating properly
(Disclaimer: this post is on the official forums too. I'm sharing here as well to cast a wider net.)

Fashionist updated today from v2.7.0 to v2.7.4. My buddy told me our private server wasn't allowing him in, saying "mods don't match", so I rebooted it. Voila, he's in. I decided to join him, so I booted up Steam & saw a mod update download. Didn't look at it then. Launched the game, and was alerted that my version of Fashionist didn't match; I was still running v2.7.0. So I checked, and saw that Steam had downloaded a 0.00 kb file. So I unsubscribed from the mod and relaunched the game, trusting in the "mod autodetect & download" feature. It saw that I was missing Fashionist, linked up to Steam, downloaded it...and told me I had the wrong version.

Okay. Back into Steam, unsubscribe again. Reboot the PC. Relaunch Steam & resubscribe to Fashionist. I get a 1.3 mb file. (Fashionist is 5.4 mb big, btw.) Launch the game again...and lo and behold, I have the wrong version. AGAIN.

I'm at my wits' end here, y'all. Please, somebody. Suggestions. Help!

This is a Steam issue, and happen with many games.
What you can do when this happens, is unsub the mod, log-out Steam, go to your mod-folder, and remove the mod manualy. Sometimes Steam doesn't clean-up properly, so old version get installed over and over, or stay installed.
Then back to Steam, resub, and you should now have the new version.

So, update: The game finally just gave up & let me in. Like, seriously--I didn't do anything additional after posting other than just sit and watch forums for an hour, and finally just thought, "what the hell, one last time". Lo and behold, it let me in. Just a great big WTF. Who knows.

Old thread revival, I guess, but make sure your mods are in the same order as the server's.

Just stop your game, wait till Steam no longer says it's running.. but leave steam open in the background.. then unsub and resub to the mod.
Check to see if any other mods had an update (your avatar in the top right -> workshop items on the right -> subscribed items and you can see all the update dates..)
Do the same with those mods as well..

If that doesn't work, then simply do a verify integrity. Properties -> Local files -> Verify integrity. That will also cause a workshop refresh..
