Does the "Explorer's Emergency Shelter" work? That is, if you build a 1 cube structure (foundation + 3 walls + door frame + door + ceiling) do you get 100% shelter?
Edit: Also came to mind: Any small "disjointed" parts in your walls? If you've lots of zig-zagging and the angles don't match you can end up with either almost-but-not-quite connecting sections or places where the blocks overlap and look like they cover everything except they don't really connect. Combining 90 degree and 60 degree angles can sometimes be tricky...
It's just some sort of bug, however the issue is minimal, I just don't stand in that one specific spot.
The house icon on the left towards the top shows how much shelter you have. This is an old screen and the temperature system was broken when I took it. I had a freezing issue in my base in the desert that has since been fixed.

Two screens show shelter in my base for those with shelter questions. These are new.
Shelter is max with one wall, 2 are still fine, 3 is fine, but no windows, or can remove bit of the shelter, but not that you can get hurt, higher, more walls in height may affect you. So mostly fine having a smaller, very close room without window to protect you fully while a sandstorm outside.
And remember, windows looks nice, but they're dangerous in many aspects. Also for sandstorms !
