Sandstorm Sheltering
I am still getting damaged in some parts of my base. It is entirely enclosed by foundations, walls, windows (Frames) and ceilings. I get randomly various partial shelter icons throughout and some spots still hurt to stand in during sandstorm. How do you get full shelter in the entire structure?

A completely enclosed should be 100% shelter. Is any part of your structure natural? I.e. rock wall or something that you didn't build? Those can be a bit sketchy. Any thatched roofs that might have holes covered by natural stuff so you didn't put a block there?

Does the "Explorer's Emergency Shelter" work? That is, if you build a 1 cube structure (foundation + 3 walls + door frame + door + ceiling) do you get 100% shelter?

Edit: Also came to mind: Any small "disjointed" parts in your walls? If you've lots of zig-zagging and the angles don't match you can end up with either almost-but-not-quite connecting sections or places where the blocks overlap and look like they cover everything except they don't really connect. Combining 90 degree and 60 degree angles can sometimes be tricky...

Frames (windows) allow the sandstorm to penetrate. You need a completely enclosed structure - if you can see out the sandstorm can get in. Or just hurry up and get to level 30 where you can create a sandstorm mask that'll protect you against storms and gas.

The Set mask you can make at the shrine is also a sandstorm mask and can be made much earlier than level 30.

This happens to me as well, my structure base is 100% enclosed and player crafted. Inside my base is another room and door way, if I stand near the door way of the room, I get stand storm damage. Even though technically I'm now in an enclosed room within a room.

It's just some sort of bug, however the issue is minimal, I just don't stand in that one specific spot.

If you are close to a window these dont give 100% shelter.

The house icon on the left towards the top shows how much shelter you have. This is an old screen and the temperature system was broken when I took it. I had a freezing issue in my base in the desert that has since been fixed.

Pretty sure this is just a bug. I've had a situation where I've been stood right next to a friend in the same house, and I was getting damaged no matter where I moved inside where as he was completely fine, moving around all over as well.

Possible ... I will have to see if i can duplicate it. They have asked me to test things for them in the past.

Two screens show shelter in my base for those with shelter questions. These are new.

if you have built a sveral wall hight base, this to may affect the shelter.

Shelter is max with one wall, 2 are still fine, 3 is fine, but no windows, or can remove bit of the shelter, but not that you can get hurt, higher, more walls in height may affect you. So mostly fine having a smaller, very close room without window to protect you fully while a sandstorm outside.

And remember, windows looks nice, but they're dangerous in many aspects. Also for sandstorms !

Thanks for the tips, I will see if removing some windows helps.

I noticed depending on the way the walls are facing somethings this causes this bug. If I had all my walls facing a singular direction (ie. all the walls facing the proper directions, outside of the wall faces the outside) it would prevent this issue.

There used to be a command to trigger sand storms. Looks like it has been removed from the game, so I am unable to test what happens with large opening in a structure. i do use mods, so there are some items here that are not in the vanilla game.
