I skipped some games myself because I thought they overdid it and I hate floaty controls, but here I feel it`s just a rather small roll-in to feel more natural.
Well, I guess it will be turned down a notch due to feedback, can`t say I mind either way.
The new roll I don`t get along with well though.
I think they aimed for something more DarkSoulsy, i-frame dodge instead of gaining distance.
With some enemies it`s ok, but most of the AI is too fast or has a too wide range. I may dodge their first attack, but the second one hits me while I am still caught in the animation.
Plus, server lag doesn`t mix so well with split-second dodges.
Maybe they can find a decent mix between old and new.
The horse movement is close to perfect for me (playing with controller).
I love the weight of it and how it makes you adjust to the environment.
Very impressed they didn`t just go for cheap MMO-style mounts.
My only small gripe is the head-sway animation when running (not sprinting), it`s a bit too much and suggests a sharper turn than it actually is.
Screw trying to "balance" this mess. It needs to just go away quickly. Horses are great, but breaking the entire game to satisfy a few pvp players is just idiotic.
Latency 100% kills that sort of thing.
Tbh I'm kind of tired of people looking to DS as the go to.
An MP combat game ought to look more towards, say, Mount and Blade Warband, IMO.
I cannot mount fight because I am left handed so I cannot use the wasd setup. If they can map it to the arrow keys it would be ok.
Hell I have a wireless numpad I've used instead of a keyboard just to game like that before, lol. Well, I'm of limited ambidexterity so I had it r-hand set up for that, but the application is sound for either :)
But yeah if you can't rebind that's... insane in this day and age. Have you tried googling if there's a file you can manually edit to rebind?? Sometimes that works when you don't have options. Had to do that a bit in the game Binary Domain for instance.
Only problem is you cannot remap the wasd keys for mounts. I looked.
Input.ini, towards the bottom.
Thank you for the reply but I tried changing them to the 10 key 8,4,6,2 and it did not work. did not allow me to steer left or right or go forward or backwrd. Hopefully they can fix this and add the keys editable in the game to make it function.
BTW say hi to pascuba for me lol
Who?
I'm not sure about the ten key, but I changed the mount keys to up, down, left, and right and it works fine. Might need to be registered in the ini as something else. Change a key command in-game to a ten key, save the changes, close the game, then use thar as an example on what the ini assigns it as.
As far as keybinds, per the dev stream, which the summary I'm completely right now, they are working on adding the in-game option, soon, tm.
I will look more into it. Pascuba is the guy you watch on twitch that plays conan on the Apathy server.
Oh lol, I'm terrible with names.
Why would you build in a half-second LAG to single player action? I don't play PvP, I run my own server - is there any way to shut this off?
Per the patch notes, Horse movement is bound to the same movement commands as the player character.
New patch dropped. Probably easier then ever to move around other then going from a full stop to a full sprint, which still is easy to do.
