Changing weapons on Thralls...
I decided to change one of my level 15 thralls from a double handed sword to a single handed ax.
both weapons were in the middle 60 damage range.

I thought that the ax and shield would be an upgrade over the sword alone.

I took her out and she wouldn't attack anything. After about 5 minutes of trying to get her to attack I quit the game for a while and then logged back in with the ax already equipped.

Another 5 minutes of trying to get her to attack anything with no luck.

Finally I went back and got her equipped with her sword again.

I took her back out and she ran over and killed the crock that I had been trying to get her to attack with one hit.

Does anyone know anything that will make them change weapons, my level 20s have had the same weapon from the start and work great, but I never seem able to change what they use.

They really do seem to get attached to the weapon they use, it seems like you need to arm then the way you want when the are level zero and stick with it.

I don't know how it works on single player, but on multiplayer servers thralls use only the type of weapon they were equipped when server starts or restarts. So, you can change two handed weapon to another two handed weapon without causing the thrall to stop attacking, but you can't change from two handed to one handed weapon or vice versa. If you want to change the weapon type, you have to wait until server does a restart before taking your thrall out to fight. I guess logging out from single player game and then logging back in would do the same as server restart, because SP game is locally hosted server afaik, but I'm not sure.

I should have said that I'm on an official server.
So I'd have to wait until the server restarts but I'd have to know that in advance since just logging in and out doesn't work.

So basically you just need to equip them at the start and leave them alone I guess.

That means I should train one with a Truncheon and use it for capturing.
I guess that makes sense. I'll give it a try.

I have the same issue
But warrior thralls are damage machines/tanky anyway no matter which weapon they use.

Compared to animal pets (which imo are more cosmetic stuff than useful allies) my warrior thrall helped me out a lot allthough some perks they get are pretty useless.

For example... my sword/shield thrall got -3 strength but +3 accu and the next perk was also -3 strength but +3 survivability

Anyway... he is still amazing xD
