Recommended single player (solo) settings
Hi all,

Is there a guide or list of settings I should be using in SP (solo)? I've looked everywhere and the only ones I found are increasing XP gain, reducing the time to break thralls, and 2x for harvesting.

Anything else?

Is there a standard one most people are using for solo?

Whatever you feel is ok for you. Go to the settings, make yourself admin then take a look at all the things you can change.

I personally set everything to max for the XP gains, 4x on harvesting, and breaking thralls and taming pets as fast as possible.

you would think that this would make things to easy, but it doesnt.

you still need to spend time farming materials, building places, fighting things, etc.

being level 60 in the first hour really just means you dont have to worry about not being a high enough level to progress.

But like, right now, I am stuck at a point of looking for Star Metal. Sure its SP, and i could just spawn some in...but that feels super cheap. plus I would want to give something up for it, and have no clue what would be similar value for it.

@suppa,
Consider changing damages you deal and take vs those of NPCs.
Also, the unconscious damage modifier for knocking out potential peons. (up to 2)

Unless you really want to push challenging yourself (I think suicidal at current default of 1).

You'd think they would have these settings in the game by now for people playing single player...

Mods help pick up the slack that the options don't, such as boss hp. I would also get pippi just to give yourself more attribute/feat points per level. As far as server settings are concerned that's hard to say as everyone wants to have a different experience. Personally I turn down most experience gains, get a mod to disable journey exp so that I actually have a reason to use iron tools instead of always skipping straight to steel from leveling so fast. I'll also crank the purge up and make it happen more often. The end result being that I have a reason to slowly build north and fortify every position so that I don't get wiped out by every 10-15 minute purge. Of course you could always just not build foundations and never see a purge but as a rule I always place at least one down when I decide to drop some crafting stations.

I find many server options fix one thing but unbalance another, such as damage dealt/received making bosses more manageable but destroying everything else so I tend to leave most settings alone.

You already mentioned the most common ones, damage and thrall times. I usually turn up damage delt and reduce the recived significantly as i like to play without thrall followers. Regarding harvesting, I prefer to turn down crafting materials rather than increasing harvesting rate, as it means having to carry less materials. personally I don't like to increase experience, in fact I always turn the time multiplier to a minimum and reduce the rest.

I also reduce thrist and hunger, since I don't like having to eat and drink so often. Another thing I like to change is the Day Cycle speed to make both day and night longer. Overall, I'd say there is no "right" way to configure the settings, the best thing is to try, then modify those that are giving you trouble or you would like to improve.

As has been said, you're going to end up adjusting things to fit your needs, rather than what works for others.

For me, I like to increase xp gain slightly (3x), increase damage dealt to (1.5x), but not decrease damage received. I decrease thirst and hunger to about .75 or so; they're both set a little different because I want to try and balance thirst and hunger drain with each other. For crafting I like to both increase harvest amount a little (3x) and also decrease crafting cost (.5) and time (also .5 I think), because I like to build big, so I'm still burning through thousands of raw materials easily. Thralls/pets, I think I have crafting set at about .2 or .3; not insta-craft but not half and irl day either.

Thrall times are extremely long on single player for me. Even if I max it out up to 10 or 0 something, I have no idea how many hours you'll have to keep playing for them to be trained if it's a named thrall. It's that long.

They take long, but not not that much, I have the thrall crafting setting at 0.25 and while I haven't checked the exact time, usually if I place a named thrall, then go do something else for a while, it's finished when I return. I'm guessing there is something wrong with your setting (it can sometimes be confusing knowing if you should increase or decrease a value), or with your game/mods. Try setting it at a value under 1.
Edit: I re-read your post, if you are maxing the slider and setting it at 0 it may causing trouble, I remember that there were some values before that would bug if set at 0.

I haven't set it to 0. But I have experimented between the two in the middle. And thrall crafting is excruciatingly slow whether the multiplier is high or low.

They do, you go to settings, click make me admin, go back 1 page then go to server settings and change anything you like, you can then click admin panel for more fun if needed.

I don't think anyone mentioned turning off thrall and building decay? That's a thing you'll want for sure.
