Building snapping
Can we get a damn fix on the snapping when building.. Just had a wall with 100% stability, accidentally destroyed the wrong piece half way up the wall and couldn't put another piece back where the one fell out? Really? There is zero reason why that shouldn't have worked. Slopped roof pieces are also just straight terrible to get to go where you want, works fine all the way around then a few identical areas in my build couldn't get the right snapping point. Its a damn circle it has everything the same, there shouldnt be an issue if one part snaps it all should.

It sounds like a stability issue, but I can't really tell for sure without screenshots. Often times what someone describes in text ends up being completely different then what I imagined based on the description provided.

You can check stability by using the repair hammer though, if that helps.

100% stability as I said in the original post

Oh, lol. That's what I get for replying when I'm happy asleep. Still, a screenshot would be helpful here. You could try switching to another build piece and back to the wall you want to rebuild a few times. Sometimes that works. Same goes for the roofing.

As to your request for general improvements, I don't know when and and I don't know what, but Funcom last month created a thread to get feedback from players on what they would like to see Improved with the building system. It was a gathering of information on what players wanted so in a future patch, some of those ideas would be implemented. Basically, they will be working on the build system some more, which may or may not help you in this scenario, but I don't know when.

Sometimes after you accidentally destroy a building part - like you did - you may try to place a new part before the rubble from destroyed part is despawned and that prevents placing the new part. After unsuccesful placement games building system somehow marks that place as "unbuildable". Usually placing or even just lining up some other building part to somewhere else clears that marking, but sometimes it just stays untill you do a relog. In some extreme cases I have had that marking stay over several relogs, but that's really rare.

Here you go, I made a video of it yesterday but I just got around to uploading it.

https://youtu.be/rECmWOZdmt8

Turns out it was the damn door frame above it, not the door I took it off later but the actual frame. Which might be the most rediculous I've ever seen.

The doorframe was blocking it from above? Okay, I think I will look into this in the dev kit. I'm thinking a collision box for it is off for it or something, hopefully that's all it is cause if that's the case then it's an easy fix.

Oh that's back again? One of the oldest bugs around. Haven't yet heard any other reports tho.

It's new to me. The one that was around forever that I know of was the door causing ceilings not to be placed. That was fixed in the Halloween patch.

You also can't place walls behind a placed awning but that isn't new or anything.

I wasn't able to reproduce the doorframe issue that you have. I did find that the collision of the door itself will block a wall being placed like in the video you took. Adjusting the collision of the door fixes the problem.

Which tier of wall are you using? Looks like one of the DLC's, which if that's the case then I can't view the source information for DLC's in the Dev Kit. It's possible the collisions on the stuff you are using is off, like the doorframe, but I can't check.

I submitted a bug report about the door causing blockage, but if you could do a bug report on the official forums with your uploaded video, that would be good. Though to be honest, while I can see the annoyance in this, it's probably a super rare occurance to have the situation that you fell into, might not be worth messing with collisions on (you typically want to avoid collision work if you can after stuff has already been established for a long time). But then again, minor annoyances can add up sometimes, so if something can be done to avoid it then cool. Funcom can decide for themselves on what they think will be best on how to approach it though, just putting my thoughts down on the subject.

I'll check into the awning stuff next though, see what kind of things I can come up with.

Edit: Could you take a video or screenshot of what you mean? At least with the dev kit, all of the snap awnings seem to work okay, you put down a snap type of awning and can place a wall all around it. The placeable awning kind can block walls, but its the same principle as being blocked because of a crafting station. The placeable awning can be picked up, wall put down, and then you can re-adjust the awning to fit against the wall correctly.

Sorry to risk thread hijacking, just thought I'd mention I'm also having a lot of frustration with placing pieces. Trying to build an Aquilonian ediface has been an adventure. Here are screen shots of trying to place ceiling, wall, and roof pieces that seem like they should go in no problem.

Note missing ceiling tiles around columns on right: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1599641260

Can't place roof tile in correct direction:

Can't place a wall piece (in front of head):

Also can't place wall piece:

I'm having a lot of fun constructing stuff, if this were fixed it would be a lot less frustrating.

Those are the Black-Ice t3 walls.

The issue with the door frame has been around a while. It actually snaps in such a way that it will block the socket below it is it is placed first. I get around this by completing the lower levels first so that when I place doors on the next level, I do not have an issue with the door frames blocking walls, etc. below it.

Could you describe a way to get the behavior to repeat itself? I want to hunt down the problem but couldn't reproduce the bug.
