You can check stability by using the repair hammer though, if that helps.
Oh, lol. That's what I get for replying when I'm happy asleep. Still, a screenshot would be helpful here. You could try switching to another build piece and back to the wall you want to rebuild a few times. Sometimes that works. Same goes for the roofing.
As to your request for general improvements, I don't know when and and I don't know what, but Funcom last month created a thread to get feedback from players on what they would like to see Improved with the building system. It was a gathering of information on what players wanted so in a future patch, some of those ideas would be implemented. Basically, they will be working on the build system some more, which may or may not help you in this scenario, but I don't know when.

Turns out it was the damn door frame above it, not the door I took it off later but the actual frame. Which might be the most rediculous I've ever seen.
It's new to me. The one that was around forever that I know of was the door causing ceilings not to be placed. That was fixed in the Halloween patch.
Which tier of wall are you using? Looks like one of the DLC's, which if that's the case then I can't view the source information for DLC's in the Dev Kit. It's possible the collisions on the stuff you are using is off, like the doorframe, but I can't check.
I submitted a bug report about the door causing blockage, but if you could do a bug report on the official forums with your uploaded video, that would be good. Though to be honest, while I can see the annoyance in this, it's probably a super rare occurance to have the situation that you fell into, might not be worth messing with collisions on (you typically want to avoid collision work if you can after stuff has already been established for a long time). But then again, minor annoyances can add up sometimes, so if something can be done to avoid it then cool. Funcom can decide for themselves on what they think will be best on how to approach it though, just putting my thoughts down on the subject.
I'll check into the awning stuff next though, see what kind of things I can come up with.
Edit: Could you take a video or screenshot of what you mean? At least with the dev kit, all of the snap awnings seem to work okay, you put down a snap type of awning and can place a wall all around it. The placeable awning kind can block walls, but its the same principle as being blocked because of a crafting station. The placeable awning can be picked up, wall put down, and then you can re-adjust the awning to fit against the wall correctly.

I'm having a lot of fun constructing stuff, if this were fixed it would be a lot less frustrating.
Could you describe a way to get the behavior to repeat itself? I want to hunt down the problem but couldn't reproduce the bug.
