Every server is dead. What happened?

Decided to reinstall the game, used to have 10 to 20 servers with 15 + players at off peak times, now I can only find 1 server in China with 20, the rest are 5 or less that have a even semi decent pop, and all official servers are ghost towns. Where are the populated servers?

Try looking at community servers. I know the server I play (void Realm) hits 50-60 on the weekend.

Yeah, as far as finding a server with a population. That number is the combined total. I see about 100 servers with 1 to 3 people on them. Only saw 1 servers with over 10 and then top conan said another server has 20, but it was from china, so no point joining.

I didnt mean the game was dead as in nobody plays. I mean the server list is dead. Back when I played, there was ALWAYS 10 to 20 servers with 20 + players available, off or on peak.

Now, I cant see any with over 15 on off peak. So yeah, its dead from what it once was.

The point is that there were servers for 50000 people at release, now with like 6000 there are way too many servers for the playerbase. I think the problem will be solved by Funcom. They won't pay too long for empty servers.

That screen shows that 10-25% of capacity of every server is being used. Some might call that quite good actually.

well, if you have 500 servers and 1,000 players, and 2 players go to every server, one could say, hey, all our servers are active...And while true, if somebody were to say, all these servers are dead, they wouldnt be wrong, as 2 players is pretty dead, for a server that can hold 40 to 70 players.

There are a good number of active servers that are not official.

The servers mainly fill up during raid times.

There are ALWAYS people playing.

their is no one on the servers now. am i supposed to be on the testlive server? thats what steam gave me but their is no one on.

It's partly a reality that despite what people think (or like to think) many players (though not all clearly) in these sorts of games will tend to go to less populated servers especially after its been out a while. Nobody wants to be that noob joining a nearly full server getting spawn ganked by fully armed players while you just have your **** flapping in the wind.

So you probably find that servers with 5 to 10 people are in a weird way optimal in terms of allowing people to have interactions but generally go about their business somewhat unmolested.

If you want full on pvp 24/7 community servers are the way to go.

Who really wants to play this game on official servers? The base game is stale. Community servers and mods give the game a new breath of air.
