Shaleback Hatching Shell

So what is the deal with this item, I have 338 hours on this game, and I have killed around 200 greens, reds and baby Shaleback's, I though maybe the Eggs in the nest would be the key but all eggs are the same in game. I got one once, from a drop off a Northern But I might have some kind of mod running at the time. I just check Admin panel and I can not even find it in there now.

I is used for 2 Recipe's that I know of, Shell Shield and Shaleback Hatchling Decoration.

Any info would be nice, thanks!

According to the Wiki, the Shell Shield[conanexiles.gamepedia.com] is gained from the Defender feat. The Shaleback Hatchling Deocration[conanexiles.gamepedia.com] can be gained from the Taxidermist feat.

Or are you asking where to get the Shaleback Hatchling Shell? The item table for the it still shows it as lootable in the item table. I'll have to do some serious deep diving into the dev kit to see how it works with hacking animals and what you get in return as far as loot (cause I have no idea).

You get Hatching Shell from baby Shalebacks with a pick or pickaxe, it's a pretty rare drop tho. You may find it from loot chests too, mainly darfari and for some reason from the Mounds of death in north.

Yes. I just dug through the all the chains of data tables but yes, it should still be working. As you said, it's a rare loot drop. It is set to 1%.

1% sounds about right, and kinda lame. but ya I murdered a lot of them using each tool for a few hours. pretty lame. Thanks
