In fact, i'm looking for a flat location but it's difficult...

Yeah, you're pretty much not going to find large flat spaces in the north.

If you don't mind freezing and competing with the bears, sabers, mammoths, and wolves... the forest in the western snow, near Eyelet lake is decently flat. But, building and harvesting is pretty much gonna ruin the forest... and yeah, major hostile critter territory, so plan on fortifications as well.

Devil's Squat is a nice falt area of grassland after you despawn the wolves just kill them and place a sandstone block on there spawn point to stop them bothering you when your building then remove them.
There are allso 2 pools of water close by new asgard with a lot of flat land i normaly build over the larger one there is allso probably the most iron and coal in the hole game just around the corner at gods claw.

There is a good area near the river. It’s near to the three towers and it’s close by the bear ghost.

you can build on the lake by the black keep since the lake is frozen is a massive large area with tons resources and offers a close port shrine,, and great mobility to get to all the important places. but again I dont recoment building much ..... wait till the 500 fix patch.... Game is so broken at the moment you will be very disapointed when you realize all your hard work will be mostly lost due to bugs atm. Just a heads up. (700hrs+ in game not including alpha and beta)

This spot is not perfectly flat but flat enough for a big settlement. Its right next to the forgotten tribe main camp at the mont of the dead.

Cons: very west of the northern map and the lanscape could be better.
The purge can hit very hard there if set on max lvl.

pros: a lot of nice npcs to grab and a lot of "free" steel to loot

a lot of hunting to do in the forest behind for trophies and other stuff like leather/ivory/thick leather/tar/fur/wolvesand feline pelts...etc

lakes all around the place, always good for fish traps and to refill your waterskins

the best spot for starmetal hunting and even enough black ice nodes available through a 2 or 3 min trek

forrests and iron nodes are really close and coal is on your way to the starmetal hunt if needed

You are not annoyed by anything here since the skelettons spawn somewhere further once you have built and only 1 or 2 cimmerian archers will give you some animation when they patrol too far away from their spawn point

the spot is safe because keep in mind that a lot of spots around the frozen lake on your way to the frost temple are vulnerable to meteors showers, so your building can be destroyed there, i learnt it the hard way since i paid the high price for my ignorance there :D

You don't need any cold protection unless you go for a starmetal/black ice run

Enjoy !

As solid showed, when you arrive at these camps of the forgotten tribe, you 'll find 2 entances, 1 at the east and one at the west (you can enter both from the north side), the spot is actually a big forrest just a bit noth west from this western entrance and you might find 1 or 2 glowing skelettons wandering around. i wanted to post a screen of the location too, but solid was faster...

thanks.

i found hundreds of t4 fighters indeed , but not a single t4 archer there and not a single t4 crafter, but topless crafting chicks look pretty nice there and if you like cimmerian looking thralls (which is my case :D) that's definitely a "must go"

and they are SOLID and hard to defeat for a newbe. :)

and he has also reach this place a life, from the desert.

his beginning base, should be in a more peacefull area.
after he has some expericnces, he can do what ever he likes.
yeah cimerian are pretty taugh fighters and use starmetal gear, along with voltaries from the volcano.
As long as you never take more than 2 or 3 of these guys at the same time, everything should be fine, especially since shield bearers don't use their shields anymore.
moreover, he can build there without having to fight any skeletton/cimmerian or anything except 2 or 3 wolves when going for iron, and eventhen if he really doesn't want to fight at all there is A TON of iron and coal on your way to the starmetal spot whithout having to fight any single ennemy.
bodmergygax, if you need any further infos just ask, we'll be happy to help...
i can go back there in one trip and make a screen of the spot free from any building so you can recognize it easilly if you want...
