Why does the Dregs need a blood sacrifice?
It's just a sewer hatch, why woudl they design it so you need to kill someone ontop of it every time you want to send the plumbers down?

Whoever made it didn't like plumbers?
Pembroke Jul 18, 2018 @ 12:03am
Maybe the Boss *is* the plumber and the sacrifice is her paycheck? Kill a slave every month and throw him down in return for her acid-washing the sewers. Seems reasonable to me.

Would also explain her attitude. *I'd* be mad if my pay was late for a 1000 years... :steamhappy:

Since the Darfari took the place over I'm guessing they decided to redo the mechanism with their own distinct style (i.e. human sacrifice). Probably wasn't like that when the aliens were just running things.

Just my personal theory.

As Pembroke pointed out, it's been about 1000 years since the Giant Kings ran the place. Clearly, the monster wasn't down there during their reign. Some stuff has gone down since then and that acid-spewing siren was sealed down there; hence the blood sacrifice needed for entry.

Where it came from, how it came to be sealed down there... *shrug* ...I haven't seen any lore that hints toward that tale, as of yet. I'd guess it isn't connected to the war between the humans and Giant Kings, due to that lack of lore. Given the blood sacrifice and siren-like nature of the creature, I'm thinking there could be some connection to the Lemurians/Derketo though.

It was probably someone’s mistreated pet giant grub flushed down the toilet and developed a grudge.

The remnant probably got tired of uppity Italians finding their way down there and bopping it over the head.

There's actually some lore on items from what I'd seen on the wiki about it. One of the Triumvirate (priestking I think?) lured a demon to the world with a flesh vessel for it to inhabit or some such. Demon comes out with no limbs so he's flushed down the toilet, etc. Should be the basic story, assuming the wiki's correct and up to date.

No clue on the blood sacrifice stuff, though having to have a live sacrifice would be a somewhat decent deterrent from pesky slaves trying to sabotage your waterways I guess. Certainly be a pain to open it up for repairs though, assuming there's no other way in.

It insures that only the superrich can afford to open the sewers. In acient times a slave was worth something sure, but a well crafted sword or armour could be worth several slaves.

A blood sacrifice to open a door is neat....except its just a sewer, and the nearby rune walls talk about how slaves go down there all the time to clean up and kill mutant vermin. I can't imagine what are basically plumbers, kill one of their friends just to open the door every week.

I demand funcom adresses this very important lore question, or im boycotting this game for silly door rituals.

Maybe it's not just a sewer? DA DA DAAAAAAAAAH! (Insert roden turning head gif)

Never understood the point of the dregs dungeon to be honest.
You go through the entire thing and kill the remnant to get a book and a stupid staff but just one click on the grate near the steps and bam you are outside???????
WTF why couldn’t I just use that back entrance to begin with?
