Though when it comes to combat, it's something best done in third person I feel (There is a setting to permit first person combat.) The game also auto switches you when you're climbing which is useful.
Sometimes I switch to first person when placing objects though because there's no snapping system to line up things like crafting stations etc so I need to get my dumb body out of the way if I want them aligned properly against a wall or something.
I'm just the opposite thought process. Back in the early days of watching bits from a top down perspective I couldn't wait for the day when the tech would allow us to see the game from the characters eyes. When that day arrived long ago.....I never looked back. Any game that has 3rd person in an open world as the only option in my opinion isn't worth playing. If the devs are dumb enough to force a switch in perspective they have done the gamer no favors for immersion. In fact the devs haven't a clue as to what immersion is. Nothing more annoying than playing a game that forces you out of one perspective and into another....... I hate climbing in this game.......
You not thinking......is obvious. 1st person is all I play.
I hate the view coming out of somewhere in the chest.
Back when the game was basically Conan: Skyrim you could fight in first person in early access but it kinda sucked with only a light and heavy attack
Yes there are weapons used / things that need doing and my character's 3rd person big fat ascii blocks view!!!
