How do you change Single Player settings on a current game?

I've been playing Single Player on "Custom" settings with all things on 1.0 normal and I had the default setting for server catchup on (So yesterday it was day time constantly, but now today it gets pitch black for 5 minutes every 20 minutes) and I was debating making nights much shorter and disabling sandstorms since both hurt my eyes; except ingame the server settings for time and sandstorms are greyed out and can't be changed :( and from the menu the only option is "continue" so I may be missing something. Any help appreciated.

you have to make ur self admin there is a button in server settings general tab I believe

So making myself admin is the only way? Will doing so mess up anything and can it be reverted back to non-admin afterwards? I've been playing 100% legit and wouldn't want to sully my hard work :p

no it shouldnt mess with anything beyond what you change and it seems after changes made you can exit game and then restart seems to default back to you not being admin if that worries you

When you logout and backin you lose admin status.
