Hardened Leather / Layered Fur, too expensive?
Having gotten back into the game recently, and leveled up to 60, I've run through The Black Keep and gotten all of its recipes.

I crafted myself a nice set of Silent Legion Armour, and I have to say, either this set is too cheap or the Cimmerian Fur/Steel sets are WAAYY too expensive.

To break it down, the chest of the Silent Legion set, costs.
1 Normal, Heavy Chest Padding
25 Hardened Steel
15 Black Ice
8 Alchemical Base (note this is just the raw mat, not any of the things it is used to create like Hardened Leather or Layered Fur)

Now the big hang up is Alchemical base, all the other stuff is super easily farmed, Alchemical base however, as two big hang ups, Gold and Ichor, neither has a consistent way to farm it. Sure you can sometimes get Ichor off Scorpions, Spiders and Snakes, but the drop rate is low and you don't get much anyway, using the fluid press requires an insane amount of mats to get even 1 Ichor, and the best way, cooking low tier fish, requires you to wait for the nets to just fill up, not something you can actively farm.

Gold on the other hand, well you either get lucky with loot drops and chests, or you farm the few obsidian nodes there are, for a small chance to get some gold. These two things make Alchemical Base a real pain in the butt, when it comes to trying to craft top tier stuff, and maintain it.

Now lets break down the Cimmerian Steel set (the less offensive of the two, fur is much worse)
1 Perfected Heavy Chest Padding
25 Hardened Steel
19 Hardened Leather

The big resources drainer is Hardened Leather (and fur for the other set), as it requires 1 Leather, 1 Thick Leather and 2 Alchemical Base. That means the chest piece for this set alone costs, 38 Alchemical Base.

Now when it comes to maintaining the sets, the Silent Legion only needs Hardened Steel and Black Ice, where as the two Cimmerian Sets, need you have Hardened Leather and Layered Fur to repair them, so even after making the sets, the simple task of maintaining them, is more troublesome for the Cimmerian Sets.

Now bare in mind that the Silent Legion Armour, not only has a higher Armour Value, but is Lighter and gives you +3 in 5 different Attributes. It is better in every single way, and I get that it requires beating a boss (a very easy boss), to obtain, but its vast superiority over the other Heavy Sets, makes it really unfair, especially when you consider how easy it is to outfit people in this set because of its low resource costs. Perhaps the Legion Set should be more expensive? But personally I feel that Hardened Leather and Layered Fur are way too expensive for what they actually provide, 2 Alchemcial Base for 1, is a very bad trade off.

So your complaint is the boss armor is better then the stuff you can get with out fighting the boss? The cheaper cost and better stats is the reward, its why its not recipe you can learn easy for just being 60. I mean what woudl the point of killing the boss be if a set you could make with just feat points was cheaper and better?

Just wanted to mention that comparing those sets isn't really advisible. Unless I remember that completely wrong the Cimmerian armor gives you cold protection while the Silent Legion set gives heat protection and quite a lot of it compared to other armors.
I am guessing that since you get it in a dungeon, and the reptilian armor the only other set you get in a dungeon gives cold protection, it is supposed to be worn when you get into the volcano.
Now there is some discussion about the heat/cold protection, if they are working or not, but regardless of that they are not supposed to be worn in the same situation/area.

My issue isn't that its better, that is fine, but the vast difference in resource cost is a bit much, if anything the Silent Legion Armour should be more expensive to craft/maintain given the massive benefit it has over the other sets, it makes them all completely pointless, since you can kill the boss with ease, without ever equipping one of the level 60 sets.

So all the effort put into those sets is pointless, because the Silent Legion armour is just that much better.

And 99% of players will simply drink a yellow potion and forget all armors but the one they want at 60 as is. Its kind of how it all works I mean 80% of the games items becomes pointless and not worth making again once you unlock another recipe that is better.

But if its a huge deal go the officials let them know. I doubt they even paid much attention to the mat costs of late with them being in crunch time could just been somehting left in the cracks that should be fixed just no one reminded them

While that is true, about everyone dumping old recipes once they are useless. This is the first time I've encountered a tier being cheaper than the one that came before it, and by a big margin. It'd be like the Acheornian or Star Metal equipment being easier to craft than Steel equipment.

Things are also level gated in this game, so you can't jump skip ahead to the next tier, but at level 60 Silent Legion and all the default sets become available at the same time, so there should be some balance between them, and if one is a boss reward, like the Silent Legion, the devs should probably consider balancing its cost to be on par at the very least, with the other sets. But I think a middle ground is best, the Legion set is too cheap and the other sets are too expensive, so bring one up and one down, so there is some level of balance between them.

Ichor is actually easily obtained by simply cooking the meat from the abysmal remnant. It also gives you one of the best foods I know.

About gold? You mean gold, or the gold dust? Gold dust I have seen dropped by npcs here and there, but I jave never mined any. Where are the obsidian nodes you speak about? On the way to the volcano?

Yeah on the way up the volcano, you can then turn it into Gold Dust in the Grinder after smelting it into ingots.

I agree that the alcemical base requirement to make some armor is way high. especially condidering how hard it is to get gold and that it's used in so many receipies...
