Is there a reason Star Metal Weapons/Tools are less effecient/powerful than Hardened Steel?

Armor Pen: 25%

Hardened Steel Hammer
Damage: 44
Armor Pen: 24%

Damage: 46
Armor Pen: 24%

Obsidian Hammer (Yes I know Obisidian is Admin Only)

Star metal is suppose to do more on lizard men or whatever in the cannon so maybe there will be lizard men in the valcano? I think people keep hinting at that when people ask about lizard ment. Not sure if that is the point of star metal but in conan that is the purpose of Star Metal weapons...

In the original game balance that I started with, Star Metal was the top end gear. I can see Obsidian being added above that, but at the cost of Star Metal vs Hardened Steel. Just... why?

Because the valcano is comming soon with obsidian, and liek I said people keep spreading this rumor their will be lizard men there or somehting like that. Star Metal is kind of like silver swords in witcher more expensive but vrs non monsters weaker then steel., Vrs monsters its better. I don't know if they are gonna do a bonus or not to lizard men or whatever at 1.0 or latter but I assume star metal would play a part in any dungeon with lizard men.
