How to kill a bear?

What armor and weapons should I need to kill a bear I also have 1 other person to help me out who has the same armor and stuff. We both have full medium armor with iron pikes, broad swords, and shields.

How do you kill a bear? With you're "bare" hands :D (sorry, someone had to make that joke) Honestly though, its fairly easy to dodge them as they telegraph their attacks fairly well. My advice, dodge more and tank less, but yeah you should be fine.

I last killed a bear with an ancient great sword and in light armor. I've actually worn nothing but the newbie light armor so far. currently level 50.

what if you build pillar, and fight from it?. exploit? not sure.. but do not tell to bear.

bears are not hard solo at all. A two handed steel sword and base heavy armour is more than enough and it's actually easier with medium armour as you can roll.

My first bear kill was with an iron two-handed sword, iron sword + shield and heavy armor (hyborean something I think). I went in with the two-handed sword to get some real damage in before going into sword + shield turtle mode. I'd suggest one of you tanking and the other standing on the side or behind and do as much damage as possible. If the bear switches targets you can simply switch roles.

Take iron spear. Wear medium armour. Load your huge balls into sack for the trip and go hunt the bear.

As mentioned avoid rush attacks with dodge. You will make it. First defence then attack.

If You need thick leather it's also good idea to hunt down apes and gorillas in swamp/jungle.

My rogue character uses daggers and light armour. Just dance around the bear until it attacks, then strike, dodge when he attacks again, rinse and repeat.

It's the same how I 1v1 dragons, elephants, rhinos, etc.

Black bears are stronger than brownbears.
Try make some steel weapon for the north when you can. And avoid by hitten by the beasts, dodge or run, move around. Sometimes simply try avoiding the confrontation is the best thing, or your need bearstuff.
Best run if there are several, but all depends your level and build. I faught bears with the potatosack-outfit from the beginning but with a good sword and shield. All depends, but avoid be hitten.

Arc is an other style, climb on a rock, and shoot from there with some good arrows.

I've only got medium armor, iron pikes, wooden targes, and iron swords but judging from what I'm reading this should be enough? Also I'm already in the north me and my buddy went there straight away after we joined the server cause we didn't want to have to worry about iron.

Black bear is the only one you might have a challenge with since they're a bit tougher than the others. Most of those are in the cold northwest, so I wear reptilian armor and my prefered weapon is a good mace with a shield.
The rest of them are pushovers compared to the black bear.
