Aloe in the North?

Ok, so there seems to be some confusion about getting Aloe in the North (highlands specifically). Someone said there is Aloe growing in the highlands, but I have been unable to find any. So is there a substitute to the Aloe up there? Or is Ambrosia and foodstuffs the only thing to rely on to replenish health? It sucks that the planters doesn't give any seeds on harvest...

Exactly my point. It seems like every thread fails to clarify what or even if there's an equivalent substitute to Aloe in the north.

If planters gave seeds, it would continue to produce until you ran out of compost. You'd effectively only need 1 seed.

What we need is a different crafting station that takes a seed producing item, like aloe, and produces only seeds.
OR
The decorative planters should produce seeds over time, but then they're not just decorative anymore.
