How to craft exceptional or flawless item?

How to craft exceptional or flawless item? I need to know to complete a quest, ty

For me it worked after crafting a sword from the remains of the boss in "The Dregs".
That is the dungeon in the lower left of the map, near where you start the game.
Its some kind of sewer system with a snake boss at the end and from its parts you can craft some
special weapon. The journal milestone unlocked after craftig it.
You can also try to catch a high class armorer or blacksmith. I heard they may craft better items you can not make yourself.

Can only be crafted by Thralls. Get a named blacksmith, and put them to work on your blacksmith bench and you will see exceptional or flawless item on the list.

Also some odd reciepts out that give it anyway (like the dreg weapons)

Nope, got it from crafting the "Abysmal Daggers" from the boss remains like i wrote above.
At least that counts for that journal quest.

Yep and its on the reported bug list. They need to fix the journal description or make it really only trigger when you make exceptional or flawless items

I think T1 carpenter can make exceptional hunting bow so you prolly don't need named thrall, and I can confirm that T3 smith works.

So i have a t4 blacksmith thrall and the required materials and the crafting recipes and a blacksmithing bench/table whatever and I still cant make any weapons. they are lit up and click on them to make them and it goes to the list and then nothing happens
