Star Metal??
I'm in the northwest corner of the map, by Eyelet Lake, cuz that's where I read to find Star Metal. But I'm not sure what it looks like, all I'm finding is ice, black ice, stone, and ironstone. I read that there's meteor showers, but I haven't seen any and I've spent hours wandering around. So, how/when do meteor showers spawn? What do I look for?
And how do you turn it into Star Metal Bars? I've picked up some ores from enemy drops, but don't know how to turn them into forgeable bars.

So it would be easier to farm ore and bars from enemy drops, basically.

No. Last night I got 3 nodes for a total of 1000 ore. Much faster than farming enemies.

I go to the Ymir priest ridge. I have to wait a long while for the meteors. On solo with 1x resource I get about 150-175 per meteor with my hardened steel pick with +3 upgrade.

dont forget you have to blow the shell off, either with 4 grease orb + 1 fire orb on hard throw or explosives.

Its looks like meteor on the movies, somtimes smokey. Round dark Brown Stone. U need to throw 4 poison orb and one fire orb to destroy Shell, than Just use pick. It Will be glowing Blue Perfect ball

I recommend building a small base in the meteorite region, just large enough to hold a bed, a well and a couple boxes for food. This way you can easily remain in the region for a longer time - all you need is one meteorite shower...

I first found star metal in my solo game along the Skyfall Ridge I think it's called. I was running around wondering where to find it and what it looked like and everything. Then I turned one way and saw some lights in the night sky, figured they were bright stars. Then they got bigger and I realized it was a meteor shower. As it got bigger I wondered where it would land and came to the very sudden conclusion that as I was distracted by them zooming past one was heading straight for me and I very quickly got out of the way. I didn't see where the others went but this one landed on the ridge itself and after two missed tosses with a fire orb, the third hit and cracked it open. I then went on my merry way with an inventory full of star metal to craft some epic loot.

This is a good idea. We have a base in the area on the ridge just below the Frost Giant Temple and when up there, it isn't uncommon to have meteorites come down in the vicinity. It does take some patience though. Also, try logging out up there when you call it quits for your gaming session and when you log back in, take a look around. It is easiest to find the meteorites up in the snowfields straight north of Eyelet Lake, since they are easy to spot up there. But we have found them as far down as the Mounds of the Dead and as far east as the next ridge over from Stargazers Crest.

They look like this:

And they smoke.

A fallen meteor looks like a smoking boulder, round-ish and dark in color. Its most defining feature is the smoke thats rising from it.

I've mostly seen them in the open ridges toward the temple of Frost. I believe meteor shower comes once every 3-ish hours? I dont actually know. If you are in singleplayer game, there shouldn't be anyone else mining them at least..

In order to get to the star metal, you need to break open the shell. A single explosive jar will do it (unless the meteor bugs out, has been happening to me a lot). Once open, its dark blue and you can mine ore from it. With a hardened steel pick I get 220-240 star metal ore from a single meteor. I recommend building a sandstone foundation next to the meteor so you can place the jar on it.

I've gotten 4 meteors worth of star metal so far, Im on official live pvp server..

In order to turn the star metal ore into star metal bars you need black ice (can be mined near temple of frost) and brimstone in the smelter along with the ore.

Btw, a single explosive arrow will work to uncover the starmetal, and you get 10 explosive arrows for 1 demon powder, making it the most cost efficient/effective way of getting star metal ore.
