It's a champion and all non-human creatures can sometimes spawn as one.

You'll find many other corrupted critters running around and I find that some are far more dangerous than others.

You'll occasionally get different components from one of those as well. I usually have the best luck with the skinning knife on the croc, but your mileage may vary.

Theyre just Tier 4 Thralls

That type of croc, certain Shalebacks (very large and dark also with glowing eyes) and dark hyenas with glowing eyes are what's called a "mini-boss". (Demon versions of the regular animals we see).
You'll get demon blood, hyde, sometimes bones, occasionally Shade Blooms, occasionally a few potions to reset your attribute or feat points, sometimes an advanced repair kit.

Be prepared for a fight, they don't go down easy, but way easier than a world boss.

Use a pick on them and you will get Demon Blood. They also can drop special potions, shade bloom and other items the nromal ones dont.

You should have gotten Demon Blood no matter which tool you used. You need a lot of them for Maproom(s).
