Only minor game advantage for DLCs is it makes it a little earlier to get the stats you want on flawless gear since you don't need to hunt down specific tier 4 Thralls for certain pieces (any tier 4 thrall will work for DLC flawless recipe).
Other then that, cosmetic only.
And some may complain just because others do. ;)
Don't worry, all dlc's are optional, and just to add more variation when building, and for some armours and weapons. But no value-changes, game-changes at all, only cosmetic.

However AFAIK you don't need the DLC to use DLC items, only to craft them. Seeing as i'm able to spawn them in from the admin panel and don't have DLC.
i think its because they "have" to download the content they cant access that irrates them wayyyy to much..
Yes. If a friend or clan member or enemy or whatever drops them for you to use, even without ownership of the DLC you can use it. You are unable to repair them though, so if your weapon breaks you'll need your buddy to repair it.
