Do they only work when you're completely calm or at home? I can eat a pile of meat during battle and recoup slowly but the healing and numbing wraps only give me a a crippling effect and then nothing. Can someone explain how they work?

They DID heal you, if you were not in combat (and had no weapons drawn) AND you stood still. Since NO ONE had a need for this, they were changed. Now they stop bleeding and replace it with cripple. Stopping bleeds allows you to heal, so the trade off might be worth it, depending on situation.

Herbal tea + roasted/spiced haunch. The regen of both stacks.

I suppose food can be considered healing, if you have Vitality Attribute maxed out. Though caution should be used if you are really low on health and haven't eaten for a while...got me a few times that :(

You absolutely do not need to have vitality maxed out. Just eat and drink high value items.

I tried a bandage while bleeding and it didn't stop it. It just crippled me while bleeding. Bug?

You need to pay attention to what is going on. If you have a x10 bleed and do one bandage, you are not fixed. You get x9 bleed. Also there are better bandages, if you raid the King's Niche in B10, you get Silken Wraps. Also some mods can of course override the functionality, so there is that additional level of complexity to such a sparse report.

You're wrong about it only clearing 1 bleeding level at a time. It clears ALL bleeding. Your hands just have to be empty for it to even work. The amount of misinformation about this game is sickening. I wish they would just update the in-game text for it.
