Least favorite item to craft?

Although I singleplar I'm not big on using admin powers to bypass annoyances in game.

After quite a few hours I've come to realize that alchemical base is my personal crafting nemesis. Just go look at what it is required as an ingredient. Then think about what needs to be done to get its own special component - gold. Half the time alchemical base goes into what is just an intermediate material anyway and the final recipes usually end up with quite a bit of it needed.
The cleverness of the devs making this item compete with itself across the full breadth of the game must be applauded.

But that's just me - how about you? What's your crafting demon?

Definitely the materials for high end armor such as hardened leather.

No kidding. I was just mildly annoyed by alchemical base when building map rooms. However, when I tried to repair my looted Cimmerian armor and realized it took hardened leather which took alchemical base which took gold dust.......well, I had to hand it to the devs for that design 'feature'. I finally made the trip to the Volcano today for registering with the Black Keep's obelisk and mining a bit of gold.

It seems kind of odd, that there is a silver node but no gold nodes. Gold is only ever a random rare drop. Like for killing a boss, in a chest, or mining something else. I think there is some mod that has a mine that gives a bit of gold, but that is the best you can do.

You can get goldstone to refine into gold bars rarely from mining obsidian nodes as well. Probably the best way to get it, too.

Well Alchemical Base is supposed to be hard to get so you cant just make the best items in the game at little to no cost

Ya, that is what I meant when I said "mining something else". It is a rare drop from mining obsidian. I think I get most of my gold that way too, but you sure do need to drop a lot of obsidian for the small amount of gold you keep. Helps to use the best quality pickaxe you can get your hands on too.

Having a pen full of Gold Rocknoses doesn't hurt either.

The hardest ingredient is gold dust, best way to get this is from looting chests. You're unlikely to get the dust direct more likely to find coins or gold bars. I'm not going to tell you which ones or where abouts experience will eventually let you work this information out for yourself.

If you want to go for a more direct approach at getting this ingredient then you'll have to start mining alot more in the volcano.

Alchemical isn't hard but it's a long and constant slog.

Gold hard to find? Why aren't you guys diving the waters at the witch queen. Lots of chests with gold for you there around the shipwrecks. You can even get a diving mask close by that gives you about +50 breath. This is low to zero risk farming, and it dies not take many visits to memorize chest locations.

You grow them from eggs. I haven't played in a awhile, but if I remember correctly, the vendor is at the far right of the map, overlooking the ship. It'll take a ton of eggs, but eventually I ended up with one pen full of Silver Rocknoses and another of Gold Rocknoses and never had to worry about either metal again.

Feed them stone, out comes gold. Well, not every time, but if you manage to get a few of them, you won't need for gold again.
