Also have a pillar inside the base that if I try and replace it or upgrade it that crash the entire server...
A stopgap measure would be to avoid using pillars for now.
Now that you mention it, I think I heard about a known issue with regards to pillars and stability where stability fails under certain conditions. You might have hit it on the nose there and I just forgot about that. If memory serves, it's something Funcom is working on atm, but I could be wrong.

I have not seen this yet. One of my bases is built off the ground on pillars. Last time I logged in, it was still intact.
Ya, dunno what the cause is or how to find a repeat case, but Ignasis has commented on it that it's something they are aware of.
I've got about 1,000 hours in the game and this has yet to happen to me in the desert.
It's hard to tell these days whether behavior like this is a bug or a legitimate change so this is a tough question to answer.
It would be kind of interesting but also terrible if this starting happening more often.
I wonder how 'meteor resistant' Vaults are?
