Surprised you got co-op working at all for the time that you did.
It worked well. We had to disable/reanable mods each time someone wanted to join so that nobody get a random "Fatal Error" every 10 minutes. Other guy managed to join via VPN, as I mentioned. So far I haven't found any way to fix the "Failed to Join Requested Game".
For the "Failed to Join Requested Game" part on my side;
1. Backup \\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved
2. Delete \\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved
-This will delete all of your local saves and configs.
3. Launch the game and create a new Coop game.
4. Have a friend handy to try things out.
-If they can join and play Coop with you.
5. Remove .db files in \\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved
6. Copy .db files (game.db, game_build.db, game_upgrade_tags.db, etc.) from your backed up Saved file to \\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved.
-This should replace your previous local saves.Redo your server settings if necessary.
7. Try if it worked for you and your friend.
For the guy with the VPN;
He apparently joined Beta thinking it would fix his connection problems. Leaving Beta fixed the "Failed to Join Requested Game" error on his side. After some tinkering and troubleshooting, we realised he had a DNS issue on this ISPs side. We knew it was his ISP, so it seemed using a free to use VPN would be a solution at first. It was a terrible solution, 500+ ping, random disconnects, etc. To mitigate this problem, we used DNSCrypt Proxy (found on GitHub). GoodByeDPI_GUI by cheytacllc (GitHub) to be exact. He had lower than 100 ping and basically fixed the connection problems caused by his terrible DNS resolver provided by his ISP.
Hope this would be useful. (=
