Funcom fixed this to stop players building on cliffs and being safe from purges. Unfortunately this had the side effect of making all bases unsafe, regardless of structures and quality. Seen purge teleport through 8 foundation thick X 10 high Black Ice walls. Just because I added one gate. Without the gate they walked around the outside to the opening.
Possible work around: I try to extend the base of my walls out 3 or 4 tiles, to try and make the purge think its porting inside, when its not. Also add pets at the base of the wall. And put archers on top of the wall, dressed in the best you can make (Include Sandstorm mask).
That's all I needed to know, they did it on purpose ignoring all the complaints about mobs spawning inside the bases, a lot of people have stopped playing The Forest or 7D2D thanks to the same
... what is the purpose of walls if enemies can ignore them? why would I spend time grinding for weeks to improve a construction?
one of the main mechanics of the game loses purpose---
Incidentally: they also ignored the extrategic options of those who build on cliffs when they were also criticized for this reason
The I recommend getting MORE thralls you're in T2 territory so your base should be able to take out one boss creature.
Also how close is your base to the Elephants spawn zone (chest)? You sure someone didn't intentionally kite the mob to your base with the intention of doing exactly what it did?
Lots of A**holes out there who are quiet capable of doing this as it happened to me.
1) was SP
2) not only the elephant was able to pass, also the white tigger,
The first time the tigger just jumped over my the floor of my base, ignoring not only the wall but also the the terrain level change (you have to climb a bit to access) , second time in other area of my base there was no cliff, just land, the elephant ignored the wall.
for what happened to the tiger, teleporting on the platform I think the first person to answer said the truth
All I did was admin spawn in loads of Tier 3 and 4 Thralls, spawned in all the best gear for them, armour and weapons. then have them all over the base. The Purge now portal in, see my Thralls, pap there pants, then die instantly. Without me doing anything. Except come from room to room to skin them.
Hopefully one day Funcom will find a better solution. Will keep my fingers crossed, and Thralls well armed!
the problem is If you have to use the admin... there is no game anymore
with this kind of stuf I personally lose the excitement of playing, and the desire to play. Now I just play waiting for something new to appear. Before it was fun to wait, search, and get good thralls and etc.
the same thing happened with other games whose revisions went from positive to mixed or negative for this kind of stupidity and bad decisions that ignore what generates addiction in a game
If you want no purge, since it sounds like you are playing single player, just disable it.
If you want them to attack the walls, there are ways to fool the purge into thinking your base goes beyond the walls and they will still think they have access to the base. The trick here is if the purge thinks there is no way it can get to your base, it will spawn in your base.
Disclaimer: Never done any of these, but watched a few videos. So for a base in the water, you build a bridge and foundations at the end of the bridge. They will try to cross the bridge, but you heavily defend it. I think the bridge must be connected to your island base or water base for this to work.
For a base on a bluff, you extend your base out to below the bluff where the purge can reach it.
I think for this to work, these additional structures where the purge can reach them, must be connected to your base. This just means at least one piece of these must be snapped to your base. That would be best, but I've seen were someone just placed random foundations around 10 foundations away all around the base. That forced the spawn to be outside the walls and not inside.
Your goal for you base should not be to prevent the purge from reaching it, that will fail. Your goal is to control where it reaches it. Have that location be heavily defended.
I have one base totally open on one side and the other side gated off. I place a bunch of pets on the open side. When the purge attacks, the fight is in a narrow location where my pets can do the most damage and I can run in there and help. It is fairly far from any important part of my base, so unlikely they will ever reach it before all being killed.
I am not talking about the purge: world boss going through the walls
(although the purge is also a disaster)
Ah, sorry. You didn't give much information. A purge can also have a boss and the 2nd poster mentioned the purge.
I've never built next to where a boss spawns, so haven't any experience with a boss going through walls.
Are you sure you didn't build on their spawn point? I've never seen them travel from where they spawn.
Why to use anything other than sandstone if the enemies will go through the walls anyway?
Do you guys understand that the game has almost completely lost its purpose? What is left? the aesthetics?
Without the ambition for better constructions you have nothing to grind, perhaps for clothing and weapons, but it is presumably a survival game, survival involves building a shelter, but if the walls do not exist for the enemies, what is the meaning of everything?
I normally build a functional base, where each part serves a purpose. I haven't seen what you describe though, all the animals and even the purge do not go through the walls.
I've seen plenty of people build bases though that are all just for show, so I don't think this would matter one bit to them.
I've yet to see anyone post here or anywhere saying, "ya, I've seen that too". This makes me think you have found a bug for a specific location or a specific situation. I'm really doubting it is a general problem or more people would be complaining. If you really have found a problem, you should describe the exact location, which boss, what type of wall, which play mode, etc. for a bug report.
so..
I've read a lot of posts, although just started playing the game about a month ago. From what I've read, the purge at first was pretty broken, but a lot of fixes and improvements were made. One of them being that you can't make a base to avoid the purge. It will spawn in your base if you block all access to it. Maybe the location of your base is contributing to the problems you are seeing. You've yet to describe exactly where it is located.
You know, if instead of just posting, the game is broken, "Thanks again Fun Com", and instead you describe in detail the problem you are experiencing, maybe someone would know how to make it work correctly. Although maybe you don't want help, that might be my mistake thinking you do, maybe this is just a complaint thread?
