why did they even put bows in the game?

im sure its been said may tames, but i dont think there are enough posts complaining about this.
bows are stupidly weak, there really is no point in them at all. even if you manage to get a head shot on one guy and take maybe 20% of his life bar, he and all of his buddies will be on you before you draw your next shot. it is frekin ridiculous.

My friend and I joined a random server last night and still in fiber clothes with stone swords we killed the croc boss with just bows and bone arrows. They're really good if you put the points into them and always charge your shots.

Invest points into the appropriate perks, invest into proper bows and arrows, and you'll change your mind.

Also, most, if not all, boss arenas have some spot in that inaccessible to the boss or its attacks that you can shoot from...provided you can find and reach them without getting killed on the way.

Mostly I use bows in early game with blunt arrows to knock out the thralls that are needed to get started. After that the only reason I use them is to pull aggro or spam poison clouds.

going to work and earning it also.
bows and arrows ,especially the exceptional ones with poison arrows are a great help.
tell us what bow you have and also what arrows you use or don't use.
Like charm said - I use the blunt arrows from a good spot so I can knock out a good thrall then go in and slaughter the rest.
Usually the one you want is accompanied by other enemy and to defend yourself you usually kill the guy or gall you are after so--- yep bloody useless

Thats my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ question I've been asking people for the last 2 years. This feature isnt even finished, what the hell do people expect from a magic update. Who the hell wants a reskin of this unfinished system??

the bow is also good for incapacitating your foe by shooting them in the legs thus slowing them down if they are chasing or coming toward you so why the winges??

Shoot em in the legs. Hack em with an axe. Job done. Nice when crippling effects combines with salt in the wound feat... killed a lot I would get slapped toe to toe with by softening them up with arrows.

I kill boss creatures all the time using only the bow and poison arrows.
It takes about 20 to 25 arrows to kill the crock boss and get his key I have over 10 special weapons from doing this.

Find a place where you can't be attacked and shoot him so he comes after you, wait until his is by a rock or something that limits his movement. Scout around to find a good place I know right were to go now.

Shoot him and wait until the poison quits working, then shoot him again pretty soon he will fall over dead. You don't even need to use a huge bunch of arrows it works on the Bone Dragon too but not as easy.

Crippling 101:

1. Get throwing axe;
   
2. Throw throwing axe ANYWHERE on the enemy;
   
3. Cripple;
   
4. Actually have a chance to recover it from body.

OR

1. Get throwing axe;
   
2. Pair it with literally any one-handed weapon;
   
3. Have different heavy attacks;
   
4. Be able to cripple with an axe or a mace; be able to apply poison several times with a poisoned axe; be able to apply sunder twice with a mace in less time than the solo mace heavy attacks let you; your sword's heavy attacks are now cooler and easier to hit;
   
5. Lose no durability on your throwing axe for hitting them.

And don't even get me started on the block exploit with the javelin to stunlock NPCs with arguably the fastest one-handed attacks in the game. What can bow do? Oh yeah: you have to aim at the leg to cripple, headshots aren't a thing until you max the attribute and you have to craft way more arrows than javelins, or throwing axes.
