The only games that's viable in would be games that only use 4 movement keys and the mouse.
Using arrow keys instead of wsad severely limits the amount of surrounding keys, making you less effective.
with todays tech there is no real reson to not be able to customize practically any/all keys
the likely reason for not having them customizable may be for ease of compatability for consoles but then i cant say tbh
I play this exact same way with the numpad. I find it offputting that the three rows of keys (qwe, asd, and zxc) are skewed...offset...as opposed to the arrowkeys/numpad's direct grid layout. This throws off my keypresses and I keep occasionally smash both w and e at the same time (or if my hand is more biased the other way, I smash a and s when I wanna move down.
I hate when people make blanket statements such as "NOBODY uses arrowkeys to move because it's better"
games have been successfully giving players the option to remap keys for a long time now. There's no reason why this isn't a trivial thing for all game developers working on projects as large as Conan.
back in the dark ages before mouselook took control of turning it was necessary to have 7 and 9 as rotate and 4 and 6 as strafe...
