So what am I using salt for now?

I am assuming salt is used for food preservation - I am getting it when doing the brimstone lake. How do I use it and with what?

Or is this like the wall lantern thing that did not work for the longest time, still not sure if it does.

there are 2 recipes that use it that are unlocked with the stove crafting skill, both involving feral flesh. not the most useful thing really, but don't know of any other use for it atm.

Once you're high enough, the stove will unlock exceptional "meals" you can cook. A few of them use salt.
