The entire point of Crom is that he is only chosen by players to opt out of having to do the religion aspect of the game. Giving him benefits destroys both his purpose as well as the lore of Conan
The only thing Crom should give you is a higher spawn rate of enemies nearby as he sends dooms down to you.
+1 those who help themselves. no buffs no god. except good odds of plunder or even some type of passive buff like or he's just an "Hardcore type mode" kinda like "deprived in dark souls" major disadvantage specially since other's has a god to summon. their should be some type of counter against other gods.
