Conan Lore

Let me be honest, I'm very excited for this game but I know little-to-nothing about the Conan lore. Any suggestions on how I can get up to speed in the shortest amount of time? I'd really like the community to help me put together a short list of films, shows or comics that will help me better understand this series. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Please canon lore only, I'm not interested in expanded universe stuff.

Either read the books (you can usually find a 'colected works' volumne or at the very least watch the first Conan movie.

The only true canon (imo) are the stories written by Robert E Howard, most of which can be found here: http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks13/1303751h.html

You can start your search with wikipedia articels about Howard or the Hyborian Age. From there you can follow links to other articles. But IMO the best way to learn more about it is to read Howards stories. From these the devs take the most influences.

Besides the books. I would recomend the old Conan movies with Arnold Schwarzenegger. While perhaps not true to the books they stil have good entertaiment value. And personally the are still his best movies.

i recomend to get this three books

The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian
The Bloody Crown of Conan
The Conquering Sword of Conan

they contain all storys written by robert e howard plus the original map of the thurian continent and the whole history of the hyborian age from atlantis to our early history (conans world is our world aswell just thousends of years earlier

For Conan Exiles the devs said they primarily use Howards stories as a source. But also the movies, comics, etc.

I know OP asked for only canon stuff But I still think Arnolds movies are a good source of inspiration even if they are old. And in my opinion he personifies Conan linke no-one else.

I've seen the movie with Arnie... and tbh I don't remember much of it.
And tbh again, it's not really my cup of tea regarding movies or books. Also just watched the first of the LOTR for exemple and I didn't really like it.
But I love playing fantasy RPG games with similar content, like Skyrim.
It just has to be enjoyable.
And Conan Exiles is not even a story focused RPG, so, whatever.

If you buy any "Complete Editons" of Howards work, be carefull some of these editions do not have all the chapters to the stories. Amazon is a good place to find cheaper paperback books.
