The goal of the filter is not to allow people to freely post abuse and profanity on the forums, but to mitigate the impact of such content before a moderator can take care of it.
The game has plenty of violence and curse words but those are covered by the game's rating.
It's online aspect doesn't cover what other people say however hence they funny enough censor curse words.
A bit silly since they don't even offer a option to remove it but oh well.
What the game does doesn't matter since this is a forum, not the game.
This isn't their forum, this is Valves. One would have thought you guys would have figured that out at some point. Regardless, it's a filter and one easily bypassed at that. Your keyboard comprises characters that let you bypass the filter and still get your "meaning" across. Learn to use it if it means oh so much for you to be able to swear.
Censor or not, you still aren't allowed to swear so bypass or not, the user will still get his post deleted or possibly banned.
Doesn't mean you have to abuse it even if they are "cool" mods and act like a child that's been allowed free reign for much of its existence.
And try using special characters instead of spacing. !@3 <those are the three most common to insert if you really must bypass. They'll cover all your basic needs for bypassing vowels and not have to bother with spacing.
But generally cursing or insulting is frowned upon or results in angry reactions in just about every culture out there.
Though now I wonder if I can ask what gear a Kushite armourer makes ;) (Edit; seems I can, the bad word isnt blocked :o)
