What use is the profanity filter?
So the profanity filter covers any profanity with cute little hearts, thats special. I get the filter, we dont want any children that might be browsing here to see bad words. Then the Moderator comes along and locks the post, stating no profanity allowed. That makes even more sense. Wonder how long before this gets locked with the statement, "No common sense allowed".

From the Discussions Rules and Guidelines:

Content Rules

Do not post any content on Steam containing the following:
Abusive language, including swearing

The goal of the filter is not to allow people to freely post abuse and profanity on the forums, but to mitigate the impact of such content before a moderator can take care of it.

We don't want people offended by foul language on boards for games that often focus on violent murder as a core gameplay plot device and mechanic.

Valve wrote the rules. You should take it up to them.
I'm guessing that it's the same as in GTA online.
The game has plenty of violence and curse words but those are covered by the game's rating.
It's online aspect doesn't cover what other people say however hence they funny enough censor curse words.
A bit silly since they don't even offer a option to remove it but oh well.
What the game does doesn't matter since this is a forum, not the game.

Sometimes I get the feeling the latest generations lack any reading comprehension. Lets try again..

This isn't their forum, this is Valves. One would have thought you guys would have figured that out at some point. Regardless, it's a filter and one easily bypassed at that. Your keyboard comprises characters that let you bypass the filter and still get your "meaning" across. Learn to use it if it means oh so much for you to be able to swear.

And what's the point of bypassing it ?
Censor or not, you still aren't allowed to swear so bypass or not, the user will still get his post deleted or possibly banned.

That all depends on the forum moderators, if they choose to enforce this or not. Each games forum is manned by people chosen by the developers/publishers (of individual games, unrelated to Steam/Valve). It is to their discretion. Take the Grim Dawn Steam forums for instance, I regularly cuss if I see the need without much fear of reprisal. It all depends on the chosen games moderators in proportion to their own level of anal-ness concerning the topic.

Doesn't mean you have to abuse it even if they are "cool" mods and act like a child that's been allowed free reign for much of its existence.

You of course realize you can edit posts without spamming idiocy right, if you really feel the need to test the filters?

And try using special characters instead of spacing. !@3 <those are the three most common to insert if you really must bypass. They'll cover all your basic needs for bypassing vowels and not have to bother with spacing.

Like I said, at each mods discretion how much to the letter they want to go on enforcing Steams guidelines. Anzu appears to be a by the numbers sort. Best not do it here ;)

That being said, there are cultures were boobs arent sexualized nor covered and men run around with a little tube to cover their willy.
But generally cursing or insulting is frowned upon or results in angry reactions in just about every culture out there.

Though now I wonder if I can ask what gear a Kushite armourer makes ;) (Edit; seems I can, the bad word isnt blocked :o)
