People work. They go away for a few days.
EVERYTHING is destroyed very cheaply against what it cost to build. You can build cheap ass sandstone mini towers to get over T4 walls.
Player time is the most important resource and I believe it is a poor direction to encourage people to view others as a farming source. Everyone can get anything so easily that it's simply griefing to take someone down to the bricks. People do it often.
Solve this with not needing to destroy work stations. You can off course, but you've already got your loot.
War declarations. Alerts. No more "who attacked my base? No idea." It encourages the worst kind of game play.
Oh ♥♥♥♥, people are trying to raid me, let me just log out for 6 hours so they can't take my stuff :P
The problem with raiding right now is exploiters are taking advantage of broken game mechanics to raid people every single night. Which indeed blows. It has been about six nights in a row for us. Fun times.
I doubt that, and if you all did leave over that then ...meh.... The windows actually works pretty well in AO. Everyone knos when that is also. You can get attacked as soon as defense goes down. Or they may wait till late, late hours when most have went to bed. SOme may stay up and defend. It can actually be an interesting and intrigueing way to handle it in Conan. Especially with siege engine comeing. Very cool.
It's actually a server setting in-game already.
That is true. I think they are more or less asking for something to that effect on the official servers. Which could be a great idea, at least for a portion of them.
not finished, not usabel at the moment
I understand your frustration. Truly i do.
However may i point out some counter points to stimulate productive conversation good sir?
(1): Offline raiding is not the root issue.
(2): The root issue is the result of being raided.
---> (2a): Namely --> Crafting stations are destroyed and you start from scratch when it comes to infrastructure.
Currently there is a server setting that allows the ADMIN to allow the following.
#A# All craft stations and containers can be accessed and used by anyone regardless of ownership.
What this means is:
STALKER owns a foundry.
Foundry is left undefended , no walls , no doors , etc.
JOE SMITH finds the foundry , access's the inventory - takes the level 2 thrall and 400 Iron Bars.
JOE SMITH leaves the area without destroying the foundry.
In a more detailed example , My 5 man group raids your tier 1-2 base.
Access's your 4 foundries , grabs the 400 bricks and leaves.
You havent lose all your ♥♥♥♥. You can get back on your feet easy enough.
NO this does not stop me from destroying your infrastructure to just be a tool.
However this mechanic does allow for many amazing Community oppounities.
IE: Currently we have a FOUNTAIN not far from our base - but out of range of archers.
This fountain is surrounded by Standing Torches - and is surrounded by a half wall foundation box with half walls.
Effectively keeping any player safe from animals - and allowing the a safe place to refill there water.
As anyone can access it.
We also have a Box we leave there with food and water skins which people can use if needed. ** Role Play server - so we are acting as a Knights Templar sort of thing **
