Yeah, they deserve it, but that isn't really the point I was trying to make. It is a complete waste of compute cycles and memory to craft something that is just going to be thrown away as a byproduct of making something else.
Let's say that I keep every scrap of leather that I make in order to get the tar to make what I really wanted in the first place, which is steel. How much memory is going to be needed to keep track of all that leather? How many compute cycles are lost as I move it from one spot to another? If you try to make a really big base out of reinforced stone, you need tons of steel.
Im pretty sure that what we are able to craft at this moment is only a percentage of what we will be able to craft. Aswell are you talking about x1 rates on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or are you playing on private.
On the pve server i play i never had more then 100 unused leather on normal materials farming and around 5-6 hundred when i go on a shale/hyena/crocs hunting.
There was an exploit until last patch where, if you were standing on any foundation you were not getting hit, so i was abusing it to gather leather :O for the simple reason that i need it the tar.So yeah, unfortunately, poor animals have to die at this moment in game so we can get our tar, even if that means to stack crates and crates of leather(which i would love to have) :)
Trade it to me in steam ;)
If ur on vanilla rates then it will take some time, because then you will be needing a really rich resources zone so you dont spend more time running back and forth carrying materials.A good tip if you only play for building is to set all your skill points in Encumberance as the amounts you will be able to carry are insane :) will reduce the time drasticly.
Way ahead of you on the encumberance. I've only slightly adjusted the crafting times by .2 points. Setup my castle on the plateau near a river fork with lots of iron, stone, coal, animals. The only things I have to make special trips for is spider ichor and "sulfur"? Everything else, I just jump off the plateau and I'm at the resources I need. The spider ichor is just a trip down the river to the rapid spawn spider cave.
Just started working on it friday night, and I've already gotten the foundation and first floor of one tower completed. No admin cheating, either. I have 3 forges pumping out iron, brick and hardened brick.
The biggest slow down is having to restart the game every 2 hours, due to memory leaks or some kind of resource hogging bug.
