Client side: To join a server with mods, you need the same mods activated that the server has, in the same load order. When joining a server, you will get a message box telling you which mods you are missing, if any, but the warning isn't large enough to display beyond a couple mods, so you may want to have a list of your server mods posted some where your players can find them. Download each mod manually and place them in the same load order as the server. Be prepared to do this every patch that the dev kit is updated because this breaks the mods, and the mods won't work until mod author updates it.
Server side: To start a server with mods, put the mod files (mod_name.pak) in ".../ConanSandbox/Mods/" and add a text file with the file names of those .pak files, one per line, for example:
mod1.pak
mod2.pak
Name the file modlist.txt and put it in the Mods folder.
I already copied the Modlists.txt over. But there are no .pak files to be found to copy over.
Is the text file all I need? It sounded like I needed the actual files.. which are not in my main steam version and I'm not sure how to download them manually other than subscribing to the mod on the workshop.
Basically I read this.
"The easiest way to install mods is to subscribe to them on the Steam Workshop. Once they are downloaded you can find them in the "Mods" menu from the Main Menu in game. You can also use mods that you get outside of the Steam Workshop - put the mod .pak file in "<SteamLibrary>\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Mods" and it will be available in the in-game mods menu."
and then the way this is worded
"Server side: To start a server with mods you put the mod files (<mod name>.pak) in "<dedicated server folder>/ConanSandbox/Mods/" and add a text file with the file names of those .pak files, one per line like this:
Instead of creating modlist.txt manually you can also select the mods you want in your game client, then copy the file from "<game folder>/ConanSandbox/Mods/modlist.txt" to "<dedicated server folder>/ConanSandbox/Mods/modlist.txt". When clients try to connect to the server, the game will first check to make sure the clients have the same mods as the server selected. If they don't they won't be able to connect."
Makes it sound like I need the <Mod Name>.pak and the Modlist.txt both.
This thread has absolutely nothing to do with the Conan Exiles Dedicated Launcher. It's nearly 3 years old.
If you have questions about the app, there is instructions on the same page that you download the app from. If you can't figure it out, it's best to ask your questions on that forum thread, or ask the admin discord.
Is to Cut all the files from Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\440900 folder, and
[paste] it in a new separate folder. example (tempconanmodfolder) located outside of Steam.
Launch Conan Exiles, you should get an error saying that the mods are missing.
That's a good thing.
Launch the game like regular.
Open the mod menu in game.
Leaving the game open and running.
Go back to your file that you just [pasted] the mods into.
Cut From ( tempconanmodfolder )
{Cut} from this folder and [paste] it back into the original location.
Paste To ( Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\440900 folder )
Refresh your mods.
You should be able to reenable the mods.
TIP : Pay attention to the error messages, chances are it will tell you which specific file caused the crash and that's the mod that you want to delete from the list.
Example {pickup+ core engine compilation failed. Error building world. Fatal Flaw detected}
This means that the mod PickUp+ is incompatible with another mod.
This is usually caused by two mods attempting to rewrite the same (dll ) Or ( c ) file.
Location of this folder may vary depending on where you saved the game,
If it's an [ External hard-drive ], it will be listed as something like,
Steam Drive SteamDrive F:\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\440900
If you have the game saved on the [ Actual PC hard-drive ], it will be located here.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\440900
Let me know if you have any trouble.
