Conan leans far more heavily to incantations. There is nearly no combat magic if any at all.
One example of good magic is the incarnations and rituals to remove corruption from the afflicted.
Maybe it would be good for you to see what kind of universe it is before you act surprise like is something new. Conan Universe has been around for sometime and if you have ever read or wanted to know information on it . There is material on the internet already so you can learn what is all about. Rather then acting all surprise like the Dev are just making things up on the fly. They seem to be following the lore of the universe and I'm sure if you read even just a comic book you may gain insight on even future bosses, land ( biomes), items, relics and Armies, ect..
Here is a link on magic for you.
http://hyboria.xoth.net/sorcery/
Priest of mitra-healer class who did damage
tempest of set-pure damage class or maybe healed too i forget
bear shaman-healer who might have casted spells i ofrget
herald of xolti-melee class who used magic
necromancer-magic damage
i think i'm forgetting one too
In AOC the magic users per se are really just using demonic powers. The priest of mitra is basically the good sorcerer option. In Exiles, it's hard to figure because so far they have mitra just as evil as the other religions. Might be a quirk of early access, not clear right now.
There is definitely no demarcation between good/evil or dark/light magic in Howards works (like there are not absolute good gods, Mitra comes near to this, but the most other gods in Howards world are not the "nice guys"). I think magic comes often together with rituals that demand an sacrifice, or with demonic powers. And it is mostly used by people that abuse magic for their own purposes. All of this makes the "hyborian magic" not so nice. :)
And do not forget: Conan, the hero of the stories, does not use magic (or he is not pretty happy with this, if he is forced to use it. He does not understand magic but he is aware of its mostly dark sources).
There is actually a fair bit of sorcery and supernatural in Conan lore... but these were mostly encountered as something Conan had to either overcome or outsmart - it was never really somebody shooting lightning bolts or fireballs - sometimes it was an enchatment, a possessed animal, or a summoned demon creature. There may have been a sorceror that transformed himself into a gorilla, but I might not be remembering that tale 100% correctly off the top of my head.
Conan did not believe in magic, so encounters with sorcery were by people who were his enemies... mostly due to rescuing damsels in distress or stealing a sacred relic etc etc... Dark magic (generally considered evil) was more powerful and so more useful in battle (extra strength, power to weapons, weaken willpower of enemy), whereas the "good" light magic was used to heal and perform good deeds (it would only work if you lived a pure lifestyle, so you couldn't use this and also be an adept with the dark magic).
But exactly how sorcery will be implemented in Conan Exiles is yet to be seen... the livestream indicated you needed to become corrupted in body - so if you'd become useless in melee combat, that would actually open the door to using ranged attacks on enemies (but I'm just guessing).
Nah, thats just nature. Nothing inherently evil about cannibalism. Its just something we as humans find extremely distasteful.
My Necromancer was a blast to play, having up to 8 combat NPCs at the same time.
