fps spikes make the game unplayable
on low graphic settings i constantly drop to single digit fps and it's making the game unplayable.
My system is
AMDFX8320
24GB ram
Radeon R9 390 8GB
There is no reason for this game to run so poorly. Any ideas on how I can correct this?

Just where do you see anyone claiming it's a server issue?
People repeat it all the time... "Find a better server" "Find a better Internet provider..." every time people like me have to repeat is not network or server related....

Then don't post crap like that in a post where no one has even mentioned it, trying to derail a thread that started out just fine.

I have a potato, i5 3.0, 8gig, GF730. Not all servers run the same. I've been on official servers I couldn't get to the beginning area of because of lag, stutters, freeze up, and rubber banding. Then I've played on them that had periodic lag spikes, I have played on then that had a bit of lag once and a while, and I ave played on private servers with no issues at all.

It really is dependent on the server. Not going to say that is the issue here if you have tried and it is the same on all, then it is obviously an issue on your end. Just saying it varies wildly with my potato depending on the server.

800wat dont remember the brand sorry i will run benchmarks tonight when i get home...as for setting g930 to primary yes i even disabled (long before this issue) the realtech through device manager. As for updated drivers yes ran them all last night to make sure

It is most likely down to an optimization pass they have yet to make then, unfortunately.

Your specs shouldn't theoretically have issues with this game, though AMD have gotten a bad rep over the years, and most people call AMD based rigs 'media center PCs', after Intel took over the throne some years ago.

I'd just give it some time, and hope they do a few more optimization passes, and pray that your CPU/GPU gets some love.
Geek it is related.... I have the same issue as him and i don't even have and AMD cpu... I reinstalled all the c++ i reinstalled my graphic card drivers... I also out of frustration formatted the pc and reinstalled again the game and nothing helped... i am not derailing the thread i am currently in topic over here.. i was just answering to Ravenshadow...

Also at least four of my friend already posted because they have the same issues i am having...Even hosting my own game in the singleplayer create this issue... In some rigs the game works like a charm in other is a complete disaster.

Well, to get back on track.

It can very well be server related.

If you're talking about unofficial servers, hosted by the players, not rented servers, it may very well be the case. Some people just doesn't take into consideration that they need adequate hardware to host a server for these type of open-world games, where a ton of stuff is going on all over at the same time. NPCs, other events, such as the huge dust storm, physx objects etc.

What it doesn't have anything to do with, is your internet speed, as that will give you latency spikes resulting in delays etc.

FPS drops only causes you to feel as if you are stuttering when trying to move, or rubberbanding.

As i already mentioned to the OP, though, it is most likely an optimization issue more than anything else.

What people should do, to help the developer do an optimization pass that'll work for everyone, is to send in reports, about your specs etc. Not just your GPU, CPU or RAM. What type of RAM, whether or not it's overclocked, everything.

Type in dxdiag in 'search' and start the diagnostics and send the results to Funcom.
Also on the Reddit there are a bounch of people with different rigs having the same problem even in steam there are several posts but usually they get drown by "Official insert number here down EXPLOIT plz fix it!" posts....

https://www.reddit.com/r/ConanExiles/comments/5rexm1/soo_many_random_freezes/

It doeas happens as you described... "as if you are stuttering when trying to move, or rubberbanding." also i noticed many times you don't ear sounds and then the game freeze and comes all at once....Stuttering is very evident all the time tough... And many sound have an area more stutters you get.

you still going to claim intel is the king when the ryzen drops in the morning? However AMD/Intel debate aside i don't know if this is an optimization issue. When i take earlier advice and turn all audio settings to 0 the game works like a charm and stays at the 60fps i have it locked at. So i thought maybe it was my g930 and switched to a corsair void (wich is technicly a different soundcard since it's in the usb reciever) and had the exact same issue.

Ryzen is compared to the i7 CPUs, which are basically designed for video/photo editing and intensive mathematical tasks. It's not a thuroughbred gaming CPU like the i5 series.

My rig vastly outperforms the Ryzen when it comes to gaming, so i'm not worried :)

But yes, intel vs amd debates aside.

It is as i said, an optimization problem. Do as i said and search using the word 'dxdiag' then do the diagnostics. Copy the results, post it on their support forum, and send an email to their support as well for good measure and explain the issue you're having.

This game is in early access and doesn't have all the necessary optimization passes done yet.

So it is actually in your own best interest to help them, help you, and everyone else in the same situation should do the same.
Could it be Possible that your Mainboard is the real issue here ? Because i have an AMD FX 8320E (Worse as 8320) and still run on Ultra settings 1920x1080 constat 60 fps only if i switch to Multiplayer after 8+ Hours in a row it starts to drop (restart fixes it)

I have roughly the same problem you describe. My problem has crept up over time since launch, at first everything ran smooth as silk on a mix of high/ultra, but now i can't even reliably and at a playable FPS run the game on low.

The issue is not the soundcard. It's the XAudio2 audio system that UE4 uses and the default, high-quality bitrate that it uses is too much for AMD's low IPC. The soundcard is merely playing the audio stream the CPU gives it, not processing it, that's why it happens regardless of the soundcard used. It's all on the CPU to actually process the audio channels.

The official response from Epic on the Squad forums indicates that the fix is for the developers to remaster a set of lower quality audio that does not overwhelm AMD FX series pathetically low IPC. Here's a link to the dev response stating that Epic already told them as much: http://forums.joinsquad.com/topic/12352-amdfps-issuesis-there-a-diagnosis/?do=findComment&comment=181772

A stock FX 8350 has the same single-threaded Passmark score as a lowly i3-6100E mobile CPU: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html . Say what you will, but that is the real problem with AMD's Bulldozer and Piledriver chips, IMO.

The XAudio2 sound engine is single-threaded and needs another 300-500 Passmark score to handle it at 128 channel 16-bit 48Khz than the FX series provides at stock clocks. That's why overclockers using FX chips or people running something like an FX-9590 don't have the issue or it is less pronounced. They've managed to get their single threaded performance above the threshold needed to run the audio engine successfully on a single core.

Using a dedicated soundcard will always be best, regardless of whether or not you're using intel or AMD.
