I'm also 100% certain that the Set Ritual Dagger cannot be attacked with at the same time as a main-hand weapon. It just doesn't work that way.
I will also say that the Set Ritual Dagger WILL out-dps an iron pick or axe, and while I haven't checked, I'd assume some of the other daggers are stronger than the Set-dagger.
Basically the point of daggers is, IMO, to be a light, convenient backup weapon to have on hand if you run out of arrows (archer) or otherwise don't want to take a full size/weight sword on a harvesting trip.
Maybe they'll add in dual-wielding attacks in the future, but currently they don't exist.
Off-topic, I think the most hilarious thing I've ever seen was a halfling (D and D) with all the required perks to let him use two handed weapons... one handed, who proceeded to dual-wield great-maces. Yeah. He was simultaneously using two weapons that probably each weighed more than he did.
To top it off I think he was a ranger with a giant spider.
These stuff aren't polished, they seem to be there as placeholders.
You are better off putting a shield on the left hand than a dagger anyways.
Also the dagger's attack speed is incredibly slow, it's only slightly faster than a sword.
If I were to swing a dagger with my hand, I should probably slash, 2-3 times faster than a stone sword in this game. The power strike of the dagger is pointless unless it's a crippling move, but against hyenas it's useless when 100% of their bites are crippling.
Because NPCs and animals/monsters have a 360 degree aggro range of 9999 (I kid you not), you can't even sneak up on them and backstab with a dagger.
