Don't know where to post this, but..slow download?
It says 4 hours to dl game.
1. I'm wired, not wireless.
2. I've changed download regions to test to see if any rarely used servers are faster, they're not.
3. My speedtest says i should be downloading way faster (i'm not confusing MBs for Mbs)
4. Nothing else is downloading on my comp, not streaming.

Side note: I recently downloaded Marvel Heroes, and it also took 4½ hours.

Am i missing something or is this standard?
(not whining, honestly confused)
Cheers

Its a 19 Gb download. All I can tell you otherwise if that if it is slow, that is between Steam and your ISP.

Is that something I contact my ISP about and say something like "hey, allow more 'throttle' for steam"?

I can't advise you on this. It may be a steam issue (the game is popular), may be your ISP, out of date router/modem etc. About how fast can you download comparably sized games?

well that's what I was saying about Marvel Heroes. That game also took over 4 hours.
That said, and I just noticed this was a feature, If I start to download, say, Borderlands, it says "estimated download time is 5 hours at 482 kbs".

The download time remaining estimates on steam are often pessimistic. Theyre just estimates...check to see in another hour how youre actually doing.

any chance youve got an asrock or asus mainboartd with killer lan ? if youve got the killer lan app you might need to set steam to highest priority, happend to me on origin and i didnt have any idea why my download was so slow -.-
Altijdwat Feb 5, 2017 @ 11:20pm
Or he has 100mb internet with a 50mb card in his computer....
BEEF Feb 5, 2017 @ 11:23pm
by using a speedtest he does admit he has no idea how fast steam usually loads for him... and i also had to spend 4-5 hours downloading it, seems like a normal time

how do i check for such an app?
BEEF Feb 6, 2017 @ 12:34am
well on the asrock board i used the app is called "killer lan" you can type it into the windows bar.. and asus has something similar, and im sure msi and co will too.
you should find out what mainboard you own and then google for a bit, this killer lan thingy usually comes on premium gaming mainboards.. and so far only throttled download speed for me :p

System model when i Dxdiag says Inspiron 660. So i severly doubt I have anything that comes with a "premium" motherboard.
And just in case someone is thinking "well that's a really crap harddrive" (not sure if it is or not, or if it's just "meh") As of 6 months ago i downloaded all of GTA5 in less than 80 minutes. (which is vastly larger than Conan)

You got cable internet? Try a hard reset on your modem. pull the plug for a good 30 seconds and back in again, give it time to go through testing and then try it.. I hard reset my modem every week.

youre also patiently waiting for the official servers to come back up ? :D

im guessing that it is just the connection that really is this slow.
