Thank you very much
I made a similar trip recently more to the east with the water falls and statues .I started out with a small base in the south. When I was geared and had plenty of water and food I made the dangerous trek to this area of the map. I tell you the trip was nerve wrecking. It is a dangerous trip. However traveling north is worth the risk. Don't forget to make a bed roll while your there because if you die you will re spawn back south and you will hate life.
Good luck anyone heading north!
You could like on that, and only have 1 entrance, and a direct route to the Sunken City
It's the spot of spots, for me at least.
And so far.
Best part is, you can get there quite easily (some spiders, like 3 or 4 over the whole trip, but getting a bow first is an option and then that's really no issue) very early on.
I forewent building an initial base and just survived a bit until I had a stone sword and shield, then went for it, and succeeded.
Do indeed make bedrolls on various safe spots along the trek, it helps! :)
The spot has:
- Extremely fast security (make a 4 foundations wide wall and you're set, area has no hostile spawns right there anyway)
- Resources:
** Water very close
** Fibre very close
** Aloe very close
** Trees very close
** Stone very close
** Coal very close
** Iron very close
** Antelopes very close
** Rocknoses very close (not too close)
** Hyenas very close (not too close)
** Crocodiles very close (not too close)
** Elephants very close (not too close)
** Rhinos very close (not too close)
** NPC camps very close (not too close)
** Huge NPC camp plenty close (Dogs)
** Spiders plenty close
** Yellow Lotus plenty close
** Corruption plenty close
** Undead Dragon plenty close
** Black Hand ship is close enough
** Darfari cannibal center is close enough
So the only thing it lacks close is the Relic Hunter camp and snakes, scorpions and mantises.
Oh, and eggs, that was a tiny bit of a bummer when it turned out to have zero 'turtle' egg nests. But it's no point really.
The undead city is also not that close but at decent distance imo.
This truly is the spot of spots imho, try it out! :)
Location: northwest corner of T6 on this map: https://i.redd.it/oqanyjx072dy.png
Maybe you've come across that oasis in-between huge cliffs? It's very near there, up a slope.

Yeah I know the place, personally I like that spot as well.

Do note that this was prior to the map changes.
Creatures may be in different spots and some landscape may have changed.
X is/was the spot. The circle was a nice little private lake/pond/oasis. But now on the map it isn't water, so that might be a bummer. Still, river below, so real close.
Anyway, I haven't been there since long, check it out and let me know :)
I think they might have upped the croc pop in the X area.
That could well be, they were under the overhang towards the ship and sometimes 1 down the river towards the damned city.
Elephants used to walk near that overhang towards the ship as well. Far enough to not be a bother at all unless you wanted it.
Elephants are gone, rhino as well. Hyena's even.
But there's a Huge Crocodile in the oasis pond now.
So yeah, being approximately in the center of the map and near an Obelisk I still think it's a very very good place.
