70 Slot Servers...

Has anyone actually played in a server of this size that was full or near to it? The reason I am asking is because I am thinking of running a 70 slot server, but any time I browse the server lists it seems like it might be a waste of money as the most poplated servers I have noticed so far was 20-40.

That said, are there people out there that would prefer the slower grind rather than the instant satisfaction that many people want with all the modifiers for XP, gather rate etc etc? I personally prefer a grind than the 100 meter sprint.

The server I setup has reduced XP gains, I like leveling to be challenging and to feel like I accomplished something. I hate easy mode.

depends on what your internet server can handle. I have fiber optic but if you have people from other locations far from the server they are going to lag the server out with copper lag.
You could easy run a 100 server on 30mbps if everyone is local and has the same speed.
You also have to consider what your computer can draw at the same time, having 100 people in a small area all moving and doing different complex actions along with enviromental physic's and particles. I don't how many raids i would drop out to everyone casting at once!

That's a real shame. I'm guessing this is consistent for all server providers? Probably nobody knows, but no harm asking. Hmm

And I guess people posting "New Server. No lag" are basically empty servers with the lag and rubber banding on the way as soon as they reach that number that's too much to handle.

Maybe now is not the right time to start one.

I don't know if you reduced the server graphic settings on pure server machines if that actually would increase the load the server can handle and draw all at once helping reduce lag on the server itself..

The server I played on could handle 60 players with a quarter of the lag the official servers had. But the last patch made it so it wont even start =(

Honestly i wouldnt run over 50-60 servers purely because the map is not that big at the moment, they are still working on making more boimes to increase the maps size. you can run 70 if you like im just saying that if you did have a full 70 players on the server it is very likely you wont have alot of room

Reminds me of the old Mount and blade days, You could mod it to increase your troops you fielded but it put a strain on the PC. I destroyed a vid card modding the crap outta that game and running hunderds on the field pst recommended settings. Didn't limit the FPS lol cooked the ♥♥♥♥ outta the card using high res textures that the card couldn't handle.

Yeah, that's also something to consider. I think I'll rent a 40-50 slot and give it a go. Thank you all for your input :)

Edit - Does anyone know if taking 'Cpu Priority' is worth the extra ££ when renting a server?
