Playing with a Controller

Has anyone actually tried to play with a controller? The default keybindings for a controller aren't even assigned and the base unctionality that are offered on keyboard, like the hold R spin wheel aren't working on controller.

Also...the game is not setup for controller properly when working with the Steam client. If launhed from steam big picture, you have to assign at least one controller config. If you select Gamepad, Conan recognizes the controller and attempts to map the keys. If you select KeyboardMouse controller config, you could go through and map out all the keys to the controller, but is that the goal of 'controller support'?

It takes a little tweaking but it works for what it is now. I am hoping they provide the same functionality for controllers on PC that they will provide for the consoles. They have no choice but to make it work with controllers on consoles or they would have a problem. lol

I started a recommended post for toggling the running with the controller like most games out there, but it hasn't had any attention yet.

They are probably more worried about the initial issues with the current release builds, so I wouldn't hold my breath for something immediate. Hopefully, more people like us will bring this to their attention enough to do something

Valid points. I would have imagined that they would be wrapped up with controller support with a spring release for Xbox One.

I am almost ready to dump the default controller support and just use the Steam controller configurator for Xbox One controller. I have a number of profiles I created for other games, I could set one up for this game....however....I was hoping for decent support out of the box.

I tried it with an XB1 Controller and it felt pretty good. Inventory management is of course a bit tedious. My biggest problem though: I can't find a means to map items to the quick select bar (you know, the 1-8 bar) from the inventory with a controller. I can highlight them...and thats it. Any ideas?

I decided to create my own controller mapping with Steam controller configurator. If you play through steam big picture mode and use a XB1 controller, I have uploaded my profile to the community. Just browse configs in the Controller Configuration section and look for Uberkull XB1 Conan Exiles Bindings v1.x.

works great for me just keep a wireless mouse near you to spin stuff otherwise its fine

I agree, even for KB i woulkd like a crouch toggle option. The controllers are clunking having to hold crouch
