also if you have a cheap TN display you will wish you had spent a few more bucks on an IPS display, comes the night all that sweet gamma ray radiation from the liquid crystals makes the screen as bright as a discoball.
Absolutely not true.
And deserts at night are fairly bright in real life. There is very little pollution blocking moonlight and starlight when you are far from cities and with the sand reflecting it all it's even brighter.
Part of the problem here is that the moon in the game seems to cast no light at all. And fires cast very little.
You can like it if you want - but it's not remotely realistic.
Perfect.
RL - yup, away from light polluting areas and no decent moon or stars, it gets very very dark. Picking up on one of the points earlier, in desert areas, such as Conan is set, is such an overcast nighttime dark, actually true - as deserts are not famous for being cloudy.... so starlight isn't so bad if the moon is even slightly present.
"Hello darkness, my old friend"
How quickly we all forget the past...
Remember when the Devs disabled Gamma command? The ensuing sh*tstorm from the playerbase about having their Night-time negating Gamma "Nightvision" option taken from them was nothing short of amazing.
It was reverted, made the server option we have today, but yeah... I don't know if you were around or not when they did that in ARK, but that community lost their collective minds over it.
i 'member, and didn't complain.
Gamma should've never been player-adjustable. And imo, not a server option either, as you can change day/night cycle and length, if you're a "We don't like night ever"-kinda server
