shoot your gamma slider all the way to the cosmos and it will fix the issue
also if you have a cheap TN display you will wish you had spent a few more bucks on an IPS display, comes the night all that sweet gamma ray radiation from the liquid crystals makes the screen as bright as a discoball.

I'm not complaining about the darkness, but I do think it's funny when people say darker nights are more realistic lol. Have you ever been out of the city in your life? When your away from the city lights, once your eyes ajust, night time is not that dark unless it's overcast.

Soooo... have you been outside at night IRL? Because when you are not near a city it does get that dark.
Yes. I spent time in the middle east. And the only time it was as bad as in game was on new moons.

Playing Solo I upped the duration of the Night Cycle for the roleplay. It's a good time to repair, resupply or in real life, take care of any necessities. Get up and stretch, etc!

Your eye needs lightsources in order to do that. In a pitch black environment you can stay for houres and it will stay pitch black because there is no light source. Have you ever been out in the nowhere when the sky was all cloudy and no stars were visible? It indeed is pitch black then, to a point where it's pretty similar to some ingame nights.

I love it aswell, but an eye adjustment would be even more awesome. If you're running around through the night it turns brighter while for people sitting in the house / near a fire it will stay pitch black would make nighttime PvP really interesting.
Oh I agree. That's why I said "unless it's overcast", in that case you can't see your hand in front of your face.

Absolutely not true.

And deserts at night are fairly bright in real life. There is very little pollution blocking moonlight and starlight when you are far from cities and with the sand reflecting it all it's even brighter.

Part of the problem here is that the moon in the game seems to cast no light at all. And fires cast very little.

You can like it if you want - but it's not remotely realistic.

I agree! It´s a nice game mechanic. I´ve spend so much time running around, collecting stone, ironstone ore, plants and wood then hop to my base to process my stuff into useable materials. I can generally do 4 supply runs and/or build moments when nightfall starts. I make sure i´m back at HQ at night and then I grab my Gossamer/Fibers and process them into Silk and Twine. I got a nice overlook area where I placed a table and a comfy chair. Including nekkid dancer. While I sit on my chair watching sunset I go grab a drink and toilet run.

Perfect.

night time adds great immersion to this game
lyonesse2 Feb 13, 2017 @ 3:16am
Night is ok as it is. Otherwise there wouldn't be need for torches.
Artemisium Feb 13, 2017 @ 3:33am
I Like the night as it is - true dark, even with a torch - the dark time should be scary, which is why humans invented lights :)

RL - yup, away from light polluting areas and no decent moon or stars, it gets very very dark. Picking up on one of the points earlier, in desert areas, such as Conan is set, is such an overcast nighttime dark, actually true - as deserts are not famous for being cloudy.... so starlight isn't so bad if the moon is even slightly present.

Darkness is fine.

No one did because they weren't man-babies.

How quickly we all forget the past...

Remember when the Devs disabled Gamma command? The ensuing sh*tstorm from the playerbase about having their Night-time negating Gamma "Nightvision" option taken from them was nothing short of amazing.

It was reverted, made the server option we have today, but yeah... I don't know if you were around or not when they did that in ARK, but that community lost their collective minds over it.

i 'member, and didn't complain.
Gamma should've never been player-adjustable. And imo, not a server option either, as you can change day/night cycle and length, if you're a "We don't like night ever"-kinda server
